"My favorite meal while in Europe this trip. One of our group called ahead and made reservations, they told the owner that I was from Nurnburg and loved Bavarian food. When we arrived they didn't bring menus instaed said they had prepared a special meal...if that was okay. What a spread with Leberknödel soup, grilled pork shoulder, various wurst, sauerkraut, hand made fresh spaetzle, potato dumplings, and delicious pork gravy. Followed by a number of desserts. Of course the Hofmuhl beer was great as well."

Stopped to visit Eichstatt and it was sweltering. The Gasthof Krone, in addition to having an attractive terrace, put up tables and chairs outside in a public square next to the Dom. Delicious desserts and gelato!

This is an upscale German restaurant with great service and really nice food. It is a little more expensive than other restaurants around, but is extremely tasty and has many choices if you want to try traditional German food! View menu

Friendly service, beautiful terrace. We had smoked trout and it was copious and delicious. We visited in the chanterelle season and they proposed a full seasonal special menu! I had some caramelised chanterelles with vanilla ice cream.

This restaurant captures local spirit it is located right in the middle of the city centre. They serve traditional Bavarian dishes. However, restaurant is closed in the middle of the day, so pay attention to working hours when visiting.

The restaurant has tables available in the Domplatz, and in their own biergarten, and inside. We ate inside because of the weather, and it was quite pleasant; uncrowded, not too noisy, perfect for a conversation. The food is predominately Bavarian, which is fine by me when I am in Bavaria. Service was excellent.

We found this restaurant by chance on a cold Sunday morning. To be honest, there was not much else open around so we didn't have much choice. But we were lucky! The place has just been renovated so looks very pleasant, the menu is Bavarian with a nice twist, service was very friendly, and the price was reasonable. And above all, food was very good (I had one of the best "schweinshaxe" in a long time).
