"I have been here lots of times and as usual tonight ordered a medium rare sirloin streak. However when I cut into it, it was very overcooked. I didn't eat any of it, I didn't even wait for a waitress I walked straight to the till area to inform them. The waitress came back out and told me the chef said it was cooked med rare and if I expected a replacement steak I would have to pay again. I told them to cancel my order and that I would not be paying for a meal I couldn't eat. She went away, a few minutes later she came back saying the chef expected me to pay half the cost of the meal because I had eaten part of it I hadn't. I told her I was not paying anything. She went away, again few minutes later came back to say chef says you have to pay half because the steak was med rare when it left the kitchen! Utter rubbish. Again told her I would not. She went away. Another manager then appeared and said the chef wants you to pay half the cost, are you willing to do that? I said no, he went away and that was eventually that. All of this was in the middle of the busy dining area! It spoiled our evening, my friends couldn't enjoy their meal whilst this was happening and they felt uncomfortable that I did not have a meal. I am booked in for half term with 5 other friends but that will now be cancelled. Never had such a bad time over a poorly cooked steak!"

Really good food but service and wait times are diabolical, sort out your act for service not as much money you can stuff in your tills

We hadn’t book just called in on spec and managed to get a table. It was busy and we had to wait a bit for food but this wasn’t a problem. The food was lovely and very reasonable. The staff are friendly and helpful View menu

Good choices could do with cooking proper chips instead of mass produced steak chips which to me had been frozen but food is good sometimes you had to attract the attention of staff who seemed to gather in corner for chats

I have been here its of times and the food is consistently of great standard with great service at a great price. The sirloin steak is always fantastic and the Christmas menu this week was fantastic, so tasty, such generous potions.

Called in this cosy pub for a couple of beers after a walk in the local park. A lovely welcome, choice of decent beers and a seat in the corner. TVs all over showing different sports but with the volume turned down so we could hear the great music.

Went for first time today food ok service quick nothing to distinguish it from other local pubs. Went on recommendation today for Sunday lunch. Portions far too large , roast potatoes not really roasted.Minimum amount of veg.. Unlikely to return for Sunday lunch.

"Our second visit was even better than our first and that was great! My wife and I visited the Puckersley with friends who live close by. It was our second visit and we remembered that the food was good. A new menu had been introduced just that evening (Friday the 13th) and I noticed a selection of “Rice Bowls” from which I chose the King Prawn option. I can’t fully remember the menu description but it was something like “Salt and Pepper Spicy King Prawns Rice Bowl” MY GOODNESS! I have eaten in some fancy places and never have I been more surprised and delighted by a dish than I was that night. It was served beautifully, the prawns were lightly battered like Tempura prawns they were on a bed of egg fried rice surrounded by a lovely sauce containing goodness knows how many different chilli peppers and beautifully diced vegetables. It was even more enhanced by some greenery (sorry, i forgot what it was) which reminded me of a lightly fried rocket which just melted in your mouth. The dish is a TRIUMPH and must not be missed. I look forward to trying the other versions of this dish on our next visit and we will certainly visit again. Our friends ordered steaks which arrived cooked exactly as they requested which is unusual in itself but not, our friends say, at the Puckersley! My wife could only look enviously at my bowl but fortunately reported that her Scampi was excellent too. The waiting staff (All girls as it happened) were very happy, smiling and extremely efficient too. DO NOT MISS THIS PUB, IT IS A GEM."
