Great atmosphere, service and food. This is a real pub with open fires and good beer. Brilliant for winter evenings for a cosy supper. It's a real pub!

Popped in for lunch. We didn't book but we were exploring the village and church and the memorial to the Polish pilot high on the hill. Friendly welcome and tasty food. Would definitely visit again. View menu

We were recommended by friends that the Sunday roast was good. Well this place did not disappoint. Service great, very welcoming, food excellent and hooray, plenty of veg with the roast!! Will defnately return. Superb

Great steak ciabatta on a lovely dog walk! Walked over from Chilgrove for a delicious lunch with my dog. The pub is very warm and welcoming and a nice pint and delicious sandwich just hit the spot! Will definitely return and look forward to trying there Sunday roast!

We went for a quiz night on a Thursday We opted to eat as well. The service is excellent. The food is excellent. But… The price point for a pub is a little high, only my opinion, but I will not eat there again. Sadly, restaurant prices in a pub, it’s a bit much. Actually, change that they are dearer than a restaurant, which I just don’t get View menu

Obviously under new management and have been twice but not as enjoyable as when under previous ownership. The service charge is probably ok if you're inside but there's no service if you're outside. They bring your food but that's it. I asked for another drink but was told to order it at the bar. Hopefully things will improve but in the meantime I will try somewhere else. Food was good both times.

Food was good, although menu a bit limited. Admittedly the pub was short staffed, but the wait for food was ridiculously slow. We arrived at 12.15, ordered mains pretty much straight away. Although we ordered sweets, by 2pm, couldn't wait any longer for them. Masses of flies in the dining room perhaps that was why everyone was sitting outside. Not a nice experience as we had wanted to take friends somewhere good. Won't be going ever again. Very disappointed.

BEWARE THE UNSPOKEN UNSPOKEN SERVICE CHARGE!!! Great pub in the countryside and friendly staff. Early evening drink with fish and chips and a Goats cheese salad . Food was great. The disappointment came when ordering and paying at the bar. The price was unexpected, on inquiring, I was told there was a 12.5% charge added... No receipt! Just a request to pay, as you would at a bar in any Pub. Wary of this tactic, be ready to choose to pay this surreptitious charge on a future visit !!!! View menu
