"I think this year the midweek carvery on 19 Dec 18 was new to High Lodge. Thought we’d give it a go as we have eaten in the restaurant previously following archery. Made a reservation for 12:30. The room was pleasantly decorated and spacious. Greeted nicely by the team on duty and guided to our table. A drinks order was taken. As this is a carvery we were able to go to the food counter and request our choice(s) of meat. Being a Christmas one went for the turkey. Loads of vegetables to choose from and usual turkey accompaniments (see photo). The server was very pleasant and welcomed us. Had plenty to eat and the quality very very good. Had a long break before desserts and chose Christmas Pudding! Oh by the way there were two Christmas crackers on the table for us. Just had soft drinks with the meal our decision. The restaurant was fairly busy and well patronised. On leaving after paying the bill we were offered mince pies to take with us nice touch. The cost was very reasonable in view of what we had and the quality, ambience and friendliness of the entire team. All in all a jolly nice meal and couple of hours spent at High Lodge. As a one off midweek the Christmas Carvery was excellent. I believe the Sunday Carvery during December is offering something similar."

This restaurant is amazing! Everything was spotlessly clean, the grass was perfectly manicured. We stayed in The Robin lodge - it was cozy, warm, and felt like a home away from home. The bedding was fresh and clean, and the shower was hot and powerful. My son also went fishing for 2 days and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend staying here. The restaurant served delicious food.

We made a reservation at the restaurant for Father's Day with our family and had a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, providing excellent service throughout our meal. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of vegetables to choose from. We particularly enjoyed the extensive selection of delectable desserts. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

Visited High Lodge with a group of Friends for the Clay Shooting. Great layout,Targets to boot a well presented breakfast. Would recommend that you try this Ground if you haven’t already. I also read earlier comments from strange people, they turned up for a Carvery at a registered Clayshoot Oh dear they heard guns. What are these people on. What did they expect dancing girls ? They really need to get a life. View menu

Went there last Sunday with two friends for the carvery. Excellent choice of meats and veg. Asked for veggie option and was given a lovely vegetable bake, thinly sliced potatoes with veg in a nice sauce underneath, accompanied by a jug of vegetarian gravy. Service outstanding. Not too crowded. Lunch is in a function room but drapes on ceiling give it a cosier atmosphere. Would definitely return. Price £10.95.

Lovely week away in spotlessly clean Beech Lodge, felt very safe with all the COVID-19 precautions put in place. The staff were welcoming and helpful, we had a couple of breakfasts at the club house which were very tasty. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings, our son had a round of golf most days, good value using the weekly pass. Ideally situated for Southwold and Aldeburgh. We will definitely book here again.

I booked a few weeks in advance, for the Sunday cravery as it was a Wedding Anniversary and birthday treat for April 21st. We were both very impressed with the layout and polite and attentive staff. We arrived and were shown to our table, asked if we wanted a drink, which arrived promptly to us,and invited to go and get our meal when we wanted to. I shall certainly be making friends and family aware of what an excellent , place it is. Will certainly not be our last visit, will make Sunday cravery a regular treat. Thanks to all staff and owners your efforts are well appreciated View menu

I visited High Lodge for the second time, staying in Nightingale Lodge this time. The staff was welcoming and helpful upon arrival. The lodge is situated in a beautiful, quiet location. It was well-equipped with everything we needed, although we missed having dressing gowns and a hairdryer that we had previously. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was of high quality. The hot tub was clean and maintained at a great temperature. The Wi-Fi worked well, which is not always the case in such a secluded spot. The spacious shower and bath were fantastic. There was a slight odor in the bathroom at times, likely due to the remote location. Overall, another lovely stay and we were treated to a st...

Visited high lodge today for a few clays with a friend and decided to have a Sunday carvery after. Plan seemed quite good but in reality it was much different. Clay machines stopped working, a lot of no birds. Quite dangerous, got hit on the head with a broken clay a few times! Good job I was wearing glasses! The most important thing was the poor customer service of a lady called Jane. High lodge currently have an offer of a free desert with carvery after using 100 clays. We paid for over 100 clays but when it came to paying the bill they were reluctant to take it off the free desert. Although another member of staff agreed with us and happily took it off the bill, Jane was obviously quit up...

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
