"Avoid this place at all costs unless you are just calling in for a drink! We passed by here once stopping for a drink and saw that the pub served food it all looked a very homely style pub so we thought we would bring our family here for a meal one Sunday. What a mistake!!! We waited ages for a table which we had booked in advance, waited ages for our orders to be taken, waited ages for the meal to turn up which turned up without any veg which we had to wait a further five minutes for after the rest of our dinner had been delivered to our table. We had to laugh when they finally got round to asking us if we fancied dessert NO THANKS!"

"My family and I came here for my birthday. It was an excellent time with the service being exceptional. All the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, although the curried parsnip soup whilst delicious was perhaps on the under-spiced side. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking and had a delicious deep flavour. The chocolate bread and butter pudding topped off the meal wonderfully. We did visit on a Thursday and so it was fairly empty as we sat upstairs but the decor of local art was delightful. "Myself and my wife went walking from Thorpeness to Aldeburgh and back. The wind was very keen and cold. Following exploring the shops in Aldeburgh we turned to walk back to Thorpeness. From the outside the PH caught my attention with smoke exiting the chimneys and an Adnams sign outside. The thought of a pint of Southwold by an open fire got the better of me. Once inside it became apparent that this is a food led pub as the first questions from the guy behind the bar was 'were we ordering food and had we booked '? My answer of 'no ' didn 't seem to be the correct one, it was 12.04 pm (4 minutes since opening) and with only two other customers in the pub my thoughts of a quick warm by the fire with a pint were now being replaced with exiting the door that we had only just entered. It was explained to us regarding the number of booked tables, the times of customers arrival and where we could sit. I did get a slight feeling that we were not the most welcome of customers that lunch time but have our drinks and a warm by the fire we did. We stayed for around 45 minutes and only as we were leaving did anyone else arrive. Beer was good and the fire was excellent, the menu seemed to cater for all. Didn 't see the food so can 't comment."

"On a rainy Monday in Aldeburgh, mum and I were looking for somewhere to lunch. Originally we had chosen a different venue in the High Street to eat but after being ignored when waiting for a table and then ignored again while waiting to order, that coupled with their prices made us decide to leave and go to Munchies. I should add, no one even noticed us leave! I've eaten at Munchies many times before and, as always, we were met with a smile and a cheery greeting. We were shown to our table within a minute and only waited another five minutes before someone came to take our order. Although there was less choice than shown on the menu well, it was a Monday after a busy high season weekend what we chose was excellent. When I asked what herbal tea Munchies had, the waitress brought the full selection for me to choose from! The whole Munchies experience was, as I've always found, very friendly and with extremely good service. I wish we'd gone there first today I will do so from now on! As a footnote, I can say from past experience, in my opinion, Munchies' breakfasts are the best in Aldeburgh!"

"There's not much in the way of ambience here flatly lit with large windows looking out onto winter darkness so not a place for an intimate dinner. Some of our menu choices were good but the fish and chips were a big disappointment: grey probably pre frozen coley in a restaurant in a fishing village? The menu deliberately does not identify the fish... the chef needs to up his game in Aldeburgh."
