"This Inn is one of the places we had been meaning to visit for some time. We picked a grey wet day which we completely forgot about with the genuine warmth of our welcome. This is a family owned and run pub restaurant which makes you feel part of the family. The building has kept its character both inside and out, we were shown to what might have been the ‘front parlour’ many years ago and seated at a round table – perfect for 5 people. While deciding what to drink we discovered that there was a local sparkling cider (superb and several proper ales served direct from the barrel (perfect! . The menu was interesting and varied and it quickly became apparent that it was all home cooked. We went straight into a main course which was filling, tasty and prepared with care. The side vegetables were especially well cooked. Having managed to let the mains settle we all tried a dessert, more of the same, good home cooking. Prices were competitive. It is difficult to find all the right superlatives to sum up our visit, why did we wait so long to go?"

Anyone who is fortunate to be able to visit this pub should grasp the opportunity with both hands! I visited in mid winter and more recently in mid summer. Both times great. Good welcome, excellent ale, fine home cooking, friendly customers.

This is one place you have to visit. Dog friendly, welcoming staff and fantastic food. We visited it whilst on holiday in the same village and had evening meals, Sunday lunch and lunch. Thank you Tony and Jane for your hospitality. We will be back. View menu

This place ticks all the boxes … from the staff to the beer to the food … just a great little village pub. Tony is a gem among landlords…. A sense of humour .. a welcoming greeting and a no nonsense attitude to what makes a “proper” pub … loved by locals and visitors from Nottingham alike … this is a definite must visit little gem

Went for lunch again. never a bad meal, What pubs used to be family run free house where everyone is treated as a friend, They have got the balance right bewteen being friendly, chatty without being smarmy. The food is excellent cooked by daughter and wife.large tasty portions My favourite is the lemon roulade have it every time The landlord grows much of the vegetables himself Even writing this is making me hungry.

We visited this lovely pub for lunch today and were made very welcome from the moment we arrived. My wife had the battered hake, peas and chips with a delightful home made tartare sauce. I had sausage, egg and chips. All was very well presented, beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. We had the Tarka lager to drink. The pub interior had the much loved feel with interesting tools and horse brasses adorning the walls. Thanks for a great lunch, we’ll most certainly back. View menu

Cannot praise the Horeshoe Inn, Ebbsborne Wake highly enough. Beautiful pub brimming with character and charm. Excellent staff, who are incredibly efficient, quick, friendly and professional. Very hospitable and welcoming Landlord and Landlady. Always an excellent range of local beers on offer that are expertly kept. Food menu is superb, all fresh local produce that is cooked to perfection. Very reasonable prices and excellent value for money. We have to keep coming back for more!

This pub was recommended by the air b n b owner...long drive from where we were staying...but very worth it! Old fashioned pub....rarely seen these days!....the hosts were extremely welcoming and the food was fantastic... Freshly cooked and the presentation was excellent....they didn't have what I wanted on the menu for desert...but the lady made it for me anyway....customer service at its finest!!....it really was the best food we had all weekend....cannot rate the food ...the service or the hosts highly enough....if you are staying in the area I would highly recommend you go there....and even if your not in the area...make a detour...you won't be disappointed

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
