"We didn't realise that that this restaurant had a 'carte' because the menus posted outside are only set menus with a bare minimum of detail. Once we found out that the 'fish of the day' was sole, we decided to try it - and then, when we sat down, we discovered the carte, an interesting (but not extensive) range of dishes. We decided not to have the buffet of starters - they didn't look all that appetising, although there were both hot and cold dishes, including meatballs, sausages, a potato dish (Dauphinoise?) and some salads. Instead, I opted for their snail casserole as a starter - which was devilishly hot thanks to the chilli: a very different take on snails which I'm not too sure I liked. On another occasion I had a half-lobster which came with 3 langoustine - and that was a good starter. My partner had a starter of chicken with coleslaw (yes, real coleslaw!) and, on our second visit, a tomato and mozzarella salad. For one main course I had a cote de boeuf - one of the best I have tasted in Cotignac - cooked to order and extremely tasty. On my second visit, I had gambas - which, of course, I had to peel myself, getting extremely messy hands in the effort but I wasn't offered a bowl of water and towel to clean them.My partner had the sole fillet on both occasions and was very happy with it.The puddings were very tasty and the wine list reasonable. All in all, a couple of good meals. However, it's clear that neither le patron nor the waitress are experienced front of house people which means that the restaurant has an amateur feel - sad, this, because I think it (and the diners) deserve better. The position of the main part of the restaurant (on a balcony overlooking the car park) isn't ideal - I think I would have preferred to eat in the courtyard below, which is beautifully decorated and much quieter.Worth a visit, though."

A delightful four day stay in a charming and lively village.Clean and cheerful room with good size bathroom and importantly, a comfortable bed.Breakfast was enjoyed in the colourful , leafy courtyard, just a step from the Main Street lined with plane trees.Busy market on a Tuesday at the door and the boule " courts" close by if you are so inclined!ChRming and helpful hosts.

Had dinner last night at the Hostellerie on their mezzanine terrace overlooking the pretty, enclosed courtyard.Cotignac can be very noisy at this time of year, especially in the main square. The Hostellerie's terrace is 'an oasis' of calm.We do not eat meat and the patron and chef were very accommodating in providing an excellent meal to our requirements.Outstanding service and a warm welcome.Highly recommended.

We decided to stay another night in this quaint little french village after attending a wedding at nearby chateaux Robernier. we called on the off chance that a room was available and we were quickly shown to a good size double with a lovely modern and sizeable en suite bathroom with lots of little extras. we only had breakfast but this was outside in a lovely courtyard , bread croissants and conserves, very french. The husband and wife team running it were very pleasant and helpful, giving us directions to our next destination.

We chose Cotignac as a stopover on our way back from Umbria, and what a delight this proved to be. We had a splendid room, large and with a large bathroom ensuite. The whole place seems to have been refurbished recently. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, but there are numerous bars and restaurants within strolling distance and when we did eat in the restaurant it was a very jolly experience. The Patron and his wife have a really good place here, and Cotignac is a proper little centre well worth the visit. We shall be there again!

On a rainy December day I visited this Restaurant for the first time. As a guest on the hotel it was natural to try it.. I was offered the Formula menu, however I preferred the menu. I chose a Filet de Beuf and made the choice to have it served with pepper sauce. It was served on a very tasteful plate, two small filets, grilled perfect Bleu as wished, and so tender, Vegetables of the season, boiled al dente. For the eye the plate was perfect and the taste just perfect.A very positive experience, and I really look forward to the outdoor serving in the beautiful yard when it is possible to be out. The restaurant has a interior which signals good tasteful quality

"meal reserved for our thirty-five years of marriage. the menu of the day does not correspond to the one that was offered on the site where one could expect a turn of spring vegetables and a piece of farmer calf. At the time of booking, I had clearly specified no seafood because my wife is allergic, we found ourselves at the entrance with a salad of asparagus and pasta. with lobster! Very nicely the chief made a lobster-free plate for my sweet. As for the calf, he turned into a poultry. it is true that the cost is not the same! however, the frame is very pleasant and the service is correct. the suitability and good reception are at the meeting. However, it is clear that professionalism is a little limited. This also shows the glass of empty whisky that is on the table throughout the meal after the aperitif. We can go through it because everyone's trying to do the best but it's a little fair. another detail: the salt is empty. I'm asking for another. It's empty too! We had to sigh a third. This is the kind of breach, maybe anodin, but it declasses the service. And who bores the client. The worst is timing: it took three hours to send three dishes! It's too much, especially since we asked to eat a dessert against a cheese plate (which was also worth € if you would like in addition to the three-course menu.) so I may have fallen bad or my requirements of the former head of a hotel school may be non-measured but frankly, for me the value for money is not at the meeting. it is quite rare that I write a mid-integration exam like this, but I think it can help management progress. this beautiful establishment certainly deserves it!"
