Perfect on a cool evening. Traditional Bavarian dishes, a nice glass of Grüner Veltliner, and extremely friendly service.

We stayed in hotel Zur Waldbahn and had lunch in the restaurant arranged by our host. Very good variety of fish and chicken. Vegetables too were very tasty. Local beet was fresh and chilled, enjoyed. Had fun time at Hotel Zur Waldbahn. View menu

There is opened only two hours for lunch. Tasty starter and soup, excelent schnizels, but potato and mixed salads are too sour. The staff has little time for guests, you have to order, it is really not important, that you have the alarm in the house, the staff must not wait!Strange modes of behavior

It was quite pleasant. That it wasn't quite cheap was on my own. I had not booked (single room) and so I was forced as a single person to occupy a double room, which was of course more expensive than a single room. I wasn't told that I was getting a double room. I just wanted a room. Bad luck? Or stupidity on my part? I think the latter!

I had the spargel (white asparagus), with buttered potatoes, grilled chicken breast, a slice of Black Forest ham on a bed of cooked spinach. It was like a Christmas meal! The blend of flavors was excellent and the chicken breast was moist. The kids had the schnitzel. It was a huge portion, served with fries. The service was great. Can't say enough about this place! Sorry, but all was worser than last year. Grosse Salateplatte is really too sour, I don't undestand why is the cook not able to taste his product! And the duck with gratin potatoes doesn't look fresh a tastes bad. The staff and their work on the average. We got back money, but we would better like to have a good lunch. Be careful, the quality of cooking is not the name of this restaurant

Our host in Bayrisch Eisenstein recommended this restaurant. When we went there on our visit to Zwiesel it unfortunately was closed that day. So one evening after our day's outing we decided to take the Waldbahn to Zwiesel in the evening just for the chance to experience this highly recommended eatery. It was a good decision as the food was excellent, the setting outdoors lovely and the service friendly. A nice evening well spent.

We never miss an opportunity to visit this excellent restaurant and we are obviously not alone as there are always lots of tables occupiedby locals and visitors. Situated across the road from the forest railway station and about 5 minutes walk from the centre of town it is traditional in decor but the food ranges from traditional to modern. Try the salads or as I do make sure the main course you choose comes with a salad and the dressings are wondeful. The service is friendly and good to see them in the traditional "Dirndles". View menu
