"I visited this restaurant with my family this week while on vacation. We were recommended this place by locals, and I must say they did not disappoint. The food was amazing. The team's passion was evident in the way they took the time to chat with us and share information about their products. One of the owners even served us and he was delightful to talk to, showing his passion for what he does. It seemed that the other owner was the chef, and although we didn't meet him, his passion was clear in the delicious food we were served. We were fortunate enough to be there during a test run for an attempt to break the British record for the biggest burger. They brought it into the restaurant for some photos and there was a lot of excitement. Everyone was taking pictures of the massive burger, reminiscent of the TV show Man v Food. In conclusion, you must visit this place. Thanks to the entire team at JDs, our last day of vacation was made special by our experience. We will definitely be back next year. - Mr. and Mrs. Cartwright."

During my trip to America, I always have to carefully research where I can dine out due to my Celiac Disease. I stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to give it a try.

Avoid dining at JDGrill because the owner, Tom Mollington, does not pay the staff their wages. Instead, he pockets all the payments and only gives a small amount of cash to the staff, leaving them hundreds of pounds short. View menu

"Visited on a busy Saturday evening. General impression is the restaurant is clean, well presented and evidently well liked for how many people were in the small dining area. A little noisy, particularly in the confined space beside the kitchen, when seated close beside a louder table. As the evening progressed, we felt quite cold not sure if the heating was on? Service from the staff was outstanding, very friendly, polite, attentive, but food was slow to arrive. We were a little perplexed by having the appetiser on the table before our starter/main order had been taken, so having to work around still having the menus. The smoked butter was very strong my partner liked it, it was too much for me. Both fish starters were good, with the mackerel our favourite. The main courses were OK. The lamb was fine, but served with lamb fat root veg meant the whole plate was very similar flavoured, and the green beans/salsa verde felt like an afterthought. The skate wing was nice, and the crispy capers were a new and pleasant experience. The desserts rescued the food for me the creme brulée was outstanding, and the chocolate special was very good, with exception of a slightly chewy meringue. I feel I'm being picky with my criticisms, but fig tree is definitely priced higher than other more standard fare restaurants in Plymouth where we have also had very good food."
