"Two minutes from Kentish Town station is the new branch of Joe’s Southern Kitchen Bar. Having walked past its Covent Garden branch, I always made a mental note to visit it. But as the London food scene keeps on expanding, so does my list of restaurants/cafes/popups to visit To celebrate the opening of Joe’s in Kentish Town and to showcase Executive Chef Trevor Tobin (Steam Rye, The Big Easy and Goodman) and his team’s culinary finesse in the kitchen, we were invited down for the press night. Whilst we had a large corner table, the place was quite busy for 6:30PM in the evening as it was also open to the general public. Hence, you can tell whether the restaurant is genuinely...read more"

I was initially drawn in by the menu, (american) southern food in London?! But I was kind of disappointed with the outcome.

A few months ago, Joe's Southern Kitchen, a restaurant in Covent Garden inspired by the deep south, opened a second branch in Kentish Town. I decided to have dinner there to try some of the best American cuisine (think slow-cooked BBQ, tender pulled pork, crispy fried chicken, and juicy hot dogs) I've had in London.

It's strange, actually. The United States is known for the quality of their cuisine – second only to Germany and maybe even our own little island – but in the state of Farringdon, the most popular restaurants are a hit and miss. It can be difficult to distinguish the good from the bad, as I found out last year when I tried a disappointing dish at an American restaurant in Farringdon that I won't mention by name. Even TripAdvisor ratings, usually reliable, can be...read more

I went to this restaurant two nights ago with a group of friends for dinner. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly and polite. For starters, I had the chicken cheese, which was very tender. I also tried the artichoke cheese dips, which were delicious. For my main course, I ordered the chicken thigh burger with chips, which were a good size and tasty. I also shared a watermelon feta salad, which was beautiful. For dessert, I had the Crunchie ice cream, which was delicious. I would definitely go back to this restaurant, as we stayed until closing time and had a great night. View menu
