"We went to the Black Horse for Mother’s Day lunch. Staff were very friendly and helpful, kept checking on us to make sure we were enjoying our food and offering us drinks. The food was incredible, very large roast dinners and good portion sizes. Kids meals were delicious too. Seeing as it was Mother’s Day we treated ourselves to dessert, all the desserts were homemade and amazing! We had the brownie and the biscoff cheesecake and the kids enjoyed the ice cream my dad requested an Irish coffee which wasn’t on the menu but they made it for him anyway. At the end of the meal us mums in the group were gifted a mini bottle of gin and some chocolates which we were very happy with, such a lovely gesture! Overall a lovely pub with yummy food and a friendly atmosphere, I’m sure we will be back!"

"We arrived for our booking to be told that there was no booking made under our details at all. They did fortunately have a cancellation that they gave us, otherwise we would have been left with no where to eat on new years eve! The waitress plonked our bottle of wine down on the table, didn't even open it, let alone pour it. The food was outstanding apart from the mashed potato which was definitely powdered."

"We enjoy dining at The Three Cups as a family. However, during our most recent visit, two members of our group ordered the chicken and pork dish. Unfortunately, the meat was tough and difficult to eat, leaving both individuals dissatisfied. We were disappointed as we were celebrating a birthday together. We will consider returning in the future, especially when our grandson has a football game at Stamford Bridge and The Three Cups is conveniently located near the field."

"Two minutes from Kentish Town station is the new branch of Joe’s Southern Kitchen Bar. Having walked past its Covent Garden branch, I always made a mental note to visit it. But as the London food scene keeps on expanding, so does my list of restaurants/cafes/popups to visit To celebrate the opening of Joe’s in Kentish Town and to showcase Executive Chef Trevor Tobin (Steam Rye, The Big Easy and Goodman) and his team’s culinary finesse in the kitchen, we were invited down for the press night. Whilst we had a large corner table, the place was quite busy for 6:30PM in the evening as it was also open to the general public. Hence, you can tell whether the restaurant is genuinely...read more"

"Room was booked last minute as we were disappointed with our first choice of hotel. The welcome was lovely aswas the room. It was my wifes birthday and we stayed in their quad room which was huge, comfortable and warm. The bathroom was clean with a power shower. Opted for Scottish breakfast on the first morning which was very filling. Overall it's a great place to stay within walking distance from the city centre and the local pub was very cheap and inviting. Would definitely stay again."

"Visited with friends and family after recommendation from people of Broughton walking and allotment group who attended a function over Christmas. Table readily available despite there being 8 of us. Room nicely decorated. Shame not to see more people dining. Food arrived in good time, presented well, portion sizes great and all reasonably priced. Children’s portion sizes were also big and of good quality. We will definitely recommend and will be visiting again. We did visit again the other evening to enjoy a drink by the cosy wood burner. People of Broughton and surrounding areas support your local pub!"

"I contacted the pub direct to resolve first but the response was simply not good enough hence onto the review. Can 't just take responsibility and say sorry we messed up there, apparently all very popular restaurants (their words) leave you sitting for half an hour refusing to take your order because there were bookings who came in AFTER we did. Staff telling us different things. It was not busy and we 'd been ready to order for over 25mins before we left, staff were aware of this as we 'd asked to order twice already and were told no there 's other people Infront of you...which turned out to be the booked tables, so paying customer or not it doesn 't matter, you 're valued less if you haven 't booked despite handing over the cash all the same. Total joke making folk sit and wait when your booked tables aren 't even ready to order yet anyway, and repeatedly saying they 'll just be 2mins for it to turn into 30mins, who knows how long it would have been because we left at that point over the poor customer service. Very disappointing that after messaging to resolve instead of doing a review, it was not taken seriously and glossed over and sorry for your wait. Take some responsibility and make sure staff all know the script so you 're not being told different things."

"This was my first time visiting the bull and butcher with my husband and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I tired out the lamb and mint shortcrust pie and it exceeded all expectations. My husband also had the steak and ale pie and he hasn’t stopped going on about it since !!! We cant wait to revisit and we will definitely have to bring some of our friends. We were served by a lovely young lady I believe her name was Daisy. She was very polite, extremely helpful when helping us with menu choices and was also very knowledgeable on the pubs history. Would recommended to all friends and is definitely worth a visit !!!! Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Mixed Sunday Roast Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot"

"I have been to many vintage inns all across the country from Newcastle down to Stevenage and never had a problem. I usually enjoy the food and the service which is why I have returned time and again. I probably have eaten in this one about 10 times over the last year. This time upon reaching the restaurant I could not book online. The app kept telling me to retry so we chose to sit in the bar. This wasn 't a problem. I went to order the food and usually with the kids meal I swap the veg sticks for peas as my son doesn 't like the veg sticks. I feel its a waste of food to take the veg sticks that end up in the bin. Before I even finished my sentence about that the server, Rachel/Rachael(dark straight hair, short, wearing a baggy shirt), butted in and said if you want anything extra you have to pay for it . I said OK, I will leave it and just get the veg sticks as I didn 't fancy paying whatever they charge for a little pot of peas that may or may not be eaten. However, I thought it was a rude way to broach this. When I was charged it seemed like more than I estimated it to be so I requested an itemised receipt. I saw that the free drink received with the kids meal was charged so I went to query this. I was told that the kids meal is a deal and as I used a £10 off coupon it couldn 't be used in conjunction with another deal. I wasn 't aware the kids meal was a deal, but I was fine with it and went to return to my table. I then heard Rachel laughing with her colleague as soon as I turned by back and walked away. Clearly with regards to this. Due to this I asked to cancel my meal and told her why. I wasn 't bothered about the deal, it was being laughed at when I am spending my money there. She immediately screwed up her face and said I wasn 't actually. Why would I? Very defensive and immediately looked guilty. I said I don 't know. Because you 're sad? She said well you 're just rude I said laughing at a customer is rude thanks and I have visited here many times. I will not be returning she said be my guest I said well ... no ... I won 't be your guest... Will I?I wont be coming back She said no be my guest and dont come back . I said that still makes no sense I laughed to myself and said I 'm rude when you laughed at me she said you 're rude too I said so you admit you were rude thankyou . Upon leaving I realised she had charged me instead of refunding me. She charged me £90.35. This means £127.50 was taken from my account needing to be returned. I have plenty of funds so its not a problem, but had it been a problem, it takes 5 days to clear back in. I had to then go back and get that refunded on top of my original order, which took a while due to how their computer system works. The man who helped me with this was very helpful and I felt bad for him having to sort out her mistake. So I thank him for his help. Due to the bad service from this person, Rachel, and the complete mess she made with the refund, i wont be returning. In fact, I don 't think I will go to any vintage inns anymore."

"Awesome gem that I’ve found just by searching for kid-friendly places reasonably close to all relatives and friends invited to my son’s third birthday. It’s the sort of place that would deserve to exceed the usual review scale, six stars would at least be required to represent the distance between The Boot and many other places that I reviewed with 5 stars. Ever since we set foot into this great pub, we’ve been welcomed with smiles and a level of kindness that other places reserve only for returning guests. The food was delicious and reasonably priced and there’s a wide range of good cocktails, beers and wines available. The kids play area is wonderful and my son played all afternoon. There are also many tables close to the play area so adults can have food there while keeping an eye on their children. The weather wasn’t great so we had food indoors, and even if our table was near the kitchen, no smell or noise disturbed us. All the staff sang Happy Birthday to my son while taking the cake that we had been allowed to bring over, and overall it’s been a perfect day. I will definitely look for opportunities to come back here."

"Dining at The Rules on Maiden Lane was an unforgettable experience. From the moment of arrival, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, combining historic charm with modern sophistication. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring every detail was perfect. The menu showcased the best of British cuisine, with a focus on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Every dish was exquisite, with the venison standing out as particularly tender, flavorful, and expertly presented. The wine list was extensive and thoughtfully curated, offering perfect pairings for each course. The ambiance, with its beautiful decor and rich sense of history, added to the special evening. The Rules is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience that truly captures the essence of London's dining scene. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-tier culinary adventure."

"The fish and chips here are exceptionally delicious, especially compared to many other traditional pubs in England. The interior is charming, and the staff, particularly the friendly and helpful waitress, enhances the experience. The menu offers a good variety, with daily specials and plenty of dessert options, all at reasonable prices. The place is clean and features a lovely outdoor seating area that catches the evening sun (if the weather permits). It's conveniently located in the heart of historic Hythe and demonstrates a strong awareness of Covid-19 safety measures. I was truly impressed and can find no drawbacks. This is definitely a five-star establishment."

"Went today for Mother’s Day, when we got there the place was absolutely packed took about 10minutes for us to be seated. Once we sat down the waitress was very friendly and took our drinks orders and food orders. Food was amazing but place is...terribly managed. Online they had said there will be 2 courses available for Mother’s Day for £16.95 and at the top it said there will be carvery. However, under the “two course for £16.95 it said you can chose from a starter main or main desert and did not specify that the original menu is not included in this deal. It also stated that all mums get a free glass of champagne with their meal which we had to ask for 4 times before receiving it. Once we had asked for the bill we made sure to check everything was right and they had charged us for two carvery’s when we had only ordered one, charged us £6+ for a child’s fish and chips when on the Facebook page it says they cost £4.95 and when we asked about it they had said they didn’t know the prices have changed and they hadn’t changed it on their website yet. Waitressing staff were absolutely lovely and made sure our food was ok and that we had everything we wanted and food was absolutely delicious. Needs new management!"
"at a hotel in front of our flight we decided to try a local pub, what a sound! the staff was very friendly and friendly, and the pub was so cozy and played excellent music. serrated beers were excellent, even had my favorite (jail ale) on! eating was excellent,...best bangers and mash I ever had, and the lasagne of my wife was so delicious. pubs and toilets were also immaculately clean! great start in our vacation! if they stay overnight in the thistle or premier inn, they will not be disappointed!"

"This is my third attempt to write the review but they seem to disappear. Well I can say after three attempts is this place is the place to go. The food was delicious and kept up to standard on each visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone as this is originally a recommendation from a colleague that I have thanks multiple times due to the service hospitality and delicious food. I would like to thank everyone from the bar staff, waiters, managers and most importantly to the chefs who work behind the scenes and most the time go un noticed. They are the ones make this delicious food, that I rave about non stop. thank you for making both my experiences amazing, welcoming and filling. The friends and family that I have brought here have all looked in their diaries to book another dinner out here. Like I said above I would recommend this to anyone that is looking to have a date night, a meal out or a spontaneous hungry person. Good food happy people. This is only me second time visiting, but I plan on becoming a regular as I love good food. Thank you again to the whole team at the goffs oak for my wonderful experiences."

"Having spent the day in Gargrave (a childhood holiday haunt , decided to get something to eat al fresco at The Masons Arms. Ordered a fish pie and a lasagna, both arrived roasting hot after being freshly cooked, and both went down a treat! The pub has a good range of beers, lagers and ciders (nice to have a choice and not be fobbed off with the usual draught Strongbow . Location scored 4/5 due to having a fair few flies buzzing around (only to be expected, but perhaps a citronella candle/lantern could be delivered to outside diners to alleviate this small issue . Recommended both meals were delicious and stayed hot until the last mouthful! (No photo of the fish pie it was dived into too quickly!"
"Stopped by for an impromptu late lunch early dinner on a quiet Thursday afternoon. The food was AMAZING and service was great. Both ate off of the specials board lamb shoulder and T bone steak. The lamb shoulder was HUGE and delicious, partner says the T bone was up there as one of the best steaks he’s ever had, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Gypsy tart for dessert was superb. Absolutely stunning food in a super friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Very good value for the quality of food and service! Thank you!"

"I went there for my birthday and was absolutely knocked away by this restaurant. If you love steak you will love the sharing 32oz trio of steaks with all the trimmings. The food was the best that I have had in Newport and well worth the visit. If your a gin fan then it's a must. They have an uncountable number of different gins that can be made to your liking."

"This pub took a last minute request for 11 people and the staff were super friendly. They have a good selection of beer available and food too. They have parking available but we had to park near a residential property since it was full. It was a pretty cosy atmosphere and they had ample seating available. The hot and spicy wings had a good masala however the meat was pretty bland. The steak and ale was pretty good, we enjoyed the gravy. The Thai green curry was surprisingly authentic however the quantity could be a little bit more, the curry was too little for the rice provided. The brownie with ice-cream was delicious and the perfect amount."
