Savory chicken stew with tender vegetables in a flaky, buttery crust.

"Had our Christmas Celebration meal here last night. The food was really lovely, I had the traditional turkey which was really nice and not dry at all like turkey can sometimes be. Nice selection of vegetables too, not just sprouts although they were included of course. Christmas Pudding was great too, it was served with custard and brandy butter and the custard melted the butter just nicely. To finish I had a Mocha which I have to say was so good! One of the best ones I have tasted ???? I would highly recommend the Black Horse for meals and particularly for their Christmas menu, really enjoyed it. The staff were very pleasant and helpful too."

"I and my family have been regularly in the hawes for many years and is a firm favorite of my Canadian family when they visit. five of us visited last night and we were all disappointed about the service that was painfully slow. we had to ask three times for our drinks. our eating took an old and two of our group had almost her head before the rest of us even had our meal before us. we decided that it will take too long to order desserts and some had baileys and I as a driver ordered a cappuccino. again, that was waiting long. my coffee was hardly warm, had no cappuccino frit and could not even melt a sugar cube. I was embarrassed that I had taken four friends to dinner, and each of us is very disappointed and extremely underwhelmed to say the least! a beautiful renovation of the spatial areas was removed from a bad, bad service. I would also like to add, there is not a pasta dish on the menu that I find a little incredible and I was told that I could not order a ceaser salat, as it was served only for lunch, so an salat was also not an option. very disappointed to say the least."

"Two minutes from Kentish Town station is the new branch of Joe’s Southern Kitchen Bar. Having walked past its Covent Garden branch, I always made a mental note to visit it. But as the London food scene keeps on expanding, so does my list of restaurants/cafes/popups to visit To celebrate the opening of Joe’s in Kentish Town and to showcase Executive Chef Trevor Tobin (Steam Rye, The Big Easy and Goodman) and his team’s culinary finesse in the kitchen, we were invited down for the press night. Whilst we had a large corner table, the place was quite busy for 6:30PM in the evening as it was also open to the general public. Hence, you can tell whether the restaurant is genuinely...read more"

"We visited The Lodge for Mother's Day lunch, after having booked. The meal itself was enjoyable with good quality dishes (we all had the roast, mix of beef and lamb really good joints! , well presented and which we thought were all value for money. How ever, we felt the service was somewhat lacking we had to ask for menus after a while, drinks order taken for only half the table then rushed off before asking the rest, had to ask for table water couple of times, etc. I appreciate that it might have been unusually busy for a Sunday given it was Mother's Day but I'm always a bit surprised when restaurants seem caught off guard by this, especially when they have a special menu in place."

"Been to this pub on several occasions in the past and always opted for the outstanding Fish and Chips which normally is about as good as you could get anywhere however on a recent visit we ordered for three of us and have to say the fish whilst edible was just about the worst we've ever had anywhere that we can recall. The Chips and Mush peas were fine but the fish was bland, much smaller than usual and had very little fish content but worst of all the batter had virtually no crunch to it and tasted as though the oil it was cooked in hadn't been changed for a while. We only finished it because we were famished and I pointed this out to a very nice staff member however her response was that it was extremely busy (which it was) being a Sunday and they were under pressure and that was probably why it wasn't up to the usual standards. For me that not an excuse when paying almost £50 for 3 main meals that are normally top notch and a big part of the reason we travel 40 odd miles to go there! She really should have taken it as constructive feedback and immediately reported it back to the manager to stop it happening again. That would have reassured us that it's a one off mistake which it may well have been. Love this wonderful Pub in stunning location the Beer is excellent and the staff friendly however on this occasion they got it very wrong.Would we go again?Maybe for a drink but not sure we'd risk forking out money on the food anymore which is a great shame as we love to support these kinds of pubs."

"Last time I came to the Crow and Gate was about 2 years ago and yesterday we decided to walk down to have Sunday lunch after going to another chain a few weeks back in Green Street Green. I must say, this was a totally different place from my last visit and in a nice surprising way. The staff Ellie M on her first day along with Ben were great hosts to us and we felt pampered. The meal was superb and asked if we could speak with the chef (Phil C) to congratulate him on his meal and all the staff around him. The portion sizes were excellent and very good value for money for what you get and drinks reasonable. Thanks guys, will be back soon. Steve Caroline"

"People misunderstand so many things these days. Do not misunderstand this: If you want to experience British Food at its best, don't think about these big name chefs like Ramsay and Co. Come Here! This is the real deal. The staff are first class, and nothing is too much trouble for them. So hospitable, so friendly, so exquisitely tasty. The pictures are of the Tandoori Quail starter, the Saddle of Rabbit main and of course, a Sticky Toffee Pudding. I cannot recommend the Sticky Toffee Pudding highly enough. This was the highlight of the meal (though that doesn't do the other dishes justice). Do yourself a favour as a treat. Go!"

"We went for Sunday roast in early morning in August. We’re one of the first customers that day. Sunday roast is delicious and price is great. We sat indoor, and the Atmosphere is great. It’s a good size restaurant. It has modern twist of old English pub feeling. There are more chairs outside. Service is a bit slower, could be better. It’s not easy to get the waiter’s attention. We had to cancel our dessert orders because it took too long. We had a flight to catch. But overall it’s a pleasant experience . If you are in the area and have 2 hours or so for a meal, this is a great place to be."

"Eggs Benedict? NOT! So, I hate leaving low rating reviews. But there are times when it 's necessary. This morning I met a friend at the Chalet. I ordered Eggs Benedict. Now, in my 65 years, I 've ordered this as a breakfast choice all over the world. It 's usually always the same for standard benedict....poached eggs, atop Canadian bacon, on an english muffin, with Hollandaise sauce. What did I get at Chalet? 2 over easy eggs on top of deli sliced ham; yes there was an english muffin, but the Hollandaise sauce barely covered the eggs. Without a doubt the worst Eggs Benedict I 've ever had."

"I had never thought that it was her basic run of the mill place as harvester, but no eating was absolutely amazing, personal was beautiful. Normally I am hard to impress as I worked in the gast friendship, but I have broken my arc I took my sling on the table when I uneasy to wear, the staff had noticed it when I came and came past to say that the cook would not know that would be recommended here for everyone."

"Food was really yummy but let down a bit by the service. Ordered at the bar, drinks came quickly, our started arrived and we waited a good 30 minutes for that to be cleared. The waitress came over and said ‘are you as done as...you are going to be with that?’ Which came off as a bit rude. Waited a bit longer for the pizza, which was nice. Just glad we had already paid so could dash as soon as we were finished"

"Great restaurant. The atmosphere is really nice in here and the staff are very friendly. The food is to put it simply, delicious. Don't expect large portions, it's not that type of restaurant. However, the quality shines, it's very comforting food. The price for the small dishes is very reasonable, but quite expensive for the larger plates, however that's probably just the economics of eating out these days. Oh and side note, the decor is awesome. Just remember it has no parking, so you will have to find somewhere in town."

"We only tend to visit the Weighbridge once every so often, but that's only because we live about an hour away. We visited last Saturday and as per all our other visits, it was well worth the journey! The starters were great, the puddings...were superb but the undoubted stars of the show were of course the in pies. The pastry is very short and just falls apart in the mouth. The fillings are fantastic and (if you have the full size pie) you most certainly won't be left hungry. We were served by a few different team members who were all very friendly and attentive and we were not kept waiting. If I had to criticize something it would be that there wasn't a traditional bitter ale around I had Bath Ales Prophecy which I chose because I was driving but to me it was a bit too citrus-ey. Personally I would prefer a more traditional ale like Butcombe Bitter or Wadworth That's just my taste though and it didn't detract from our experience at all. I would definitely recommend the Weighbridge. We are already looking forward to our next visit."

"£12.50 for seven small pieces scampi and many chips and small pot of mushy inherited. the young man behind the bar who said he had a word with the cook. I obviously didn't say a comment from the cook at the time, he looked embarrassing, it was like what it was, what it was so hard. also hanging on the menu my meal would have included a beside salad."

"this is a beautiful old restaurant at the river bank, but unfortunately was closed what I was very surprised at seemingly the bar and the restaurant are closed on the afternoon in view of the beautiful location and the fact that there were many people gathered on the river bank, I am quite surprised! missing opportunity on a beautiful sunny afternoon a nice long drink or two would have made for a relaxing time"

"I only stopped by for a drink and a snack. The restaurant was warm and cozy on a cold day. Despite the trains not running, the place was quite busy. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, which was convenient for my wife who uses a mobility scooter. There were a few entrances that made access easy. The service was good, and the food was delicious. Overall, I would rate the food and service a 4 out of 5, and the atmosphere a 5 out of 5. The price per person was between £1-10."

"I booked the afternoon tea for 5 people over the phone. I did inform them at the time that there would be one vegetarian. The morning of the date, I rang to cancel one of the people who was unable to attend. That was fine. When we arrived, I was informed that I would have to pay for the cancelled person as they had to buy the food in from outside and order it in advance. At no time had I been told that cancellations would be charged although I was informed it did state this online! However, I had not booked online!. When the food arrived, the vegetarian sandwiches were mixed in with the meat sandwiches. When this was pointed out, the staff grudgingly agreed to prepare fresh vegetarian sandwiches and put on separate plate. The food was very nice once this was all sorted out and the teapots were refilled on request. Paying for the meal proved a problem as we were all paying separately, some with cards, some with cash. This was not possible as they did not have the facility to do this as the bill was a complete bill! The manageress was not particularly helpful or welcoming and we came away feeling very disappointed with the experience."

"in soho, just a few meters from the top of some of the best theater londons, is the nudelhaus. a restaurant that wants to combine the rest of the Asian teehouses that inspired it with the vibration of the flourishing street food stands. she wants to bring the tantalizing taste from Southeast Asia to the west end of london. the question is, have they cracked it and only reaches that?the nudelhaus aims to combine rest of a teehouse with the vibration of street food stands. these two dinge, calm and dizzy vibrator seem strange to each other, but somehow the nudelhaus has perfectly combined the two. the nudelhaus in soho manages to create the bozz and rest after which they are, but some of the aromes that I expected to do in Asia lacked. it is not far away and if they are in the opposite, whether they visit the theatre or not, the nudelhaus is definitely worth jumping in!"
