"My husband and I had made a reservation for Sunday dinner, but had to cancel because the latest time they could book us was 4:30pm. As a diabetic, I needed to eat closer to 6:00pm. Despite this, we received a friendly greeting over the phone and decided to give the place a try while we were in the area for five days. We only wish we had visited more than once. This is a family-run business with two welcoming ladies at the front of the house. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. Covid precautions were well in place, with sufficient spacing to make us feel safe. We both opted for the lasagne, chips, and peas special for £5. When we asked about how they manage to offer such a good deal, we learned that all the produce is locally sourced and homemade, with even grandma helping out in the kitchen. The food was delicious, with generous portions and a variety of flavors including garlic, oregano, turmeric, fennel, and marjoram. The homemade bechamel sauce was rich and creamy, topped with a good cheese. The hand-cut chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, with petit pois on the side. We hope to return to the area so we can dine here again. Highly recommended."

Me and my partner come here as it is our local alot but this is the first time for food and it is very nice. He had the pulled pork bun and chips, I have the chicken fajitas and chips then a pudding, it was plenty, fresh and hot. Worth every penny for what u get. I am amazed at how this place can offer such great value for the price. As someone who travels frequently for business, I have to say that this is the most cost-effective stay I have ever had. While the rooms may be slightly outdated, they are clean and well-maintained, and the staff is friendly and accommodating. Overall, this hotel provides excellent value for the money.

Lovely and homely looking place, decor is lovely and all staff were friendly. My chicken was less cooked than I’d like and the staff dealt with it swiftly and professionally. Once that was sorted, the quality and portion size was brilliant. Only downside was the coffee machine was not working when we asked and it would have finished the meal off, but it wasn’t the end of the world.

So tonight we thought we would have a meal at our local and the food was really good. I had Spicy Chicken Wings with potato wedges and it was so nice and yummy with lots. We was unsure at first as we normally do weatherspoons as the prices are cheaper. But we was so surprised mine was £11.50 and you get plenty, my husband had Scampi and Chunky Chips and he was also surprised. We will be back again for food View menu

What an absolute amazing pub a must visit for food and drink, we drove down from staying at the forest pine golf resort late in the evening looking for a local pub meal as he was quiet he had turned the kitchen off he had no problem lightning up the kitchen to cook us up a wonderful chicken tikka for two washed down with a nice cold cider in a lovely atmosphere and to be honest at a great price and his dog is amazing. A must visit.

I was in need of a small private room for a family gathering with a buffet. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by all staff who were incredibly attentive. The buffet was outstanding, with a wide variety of sandwiches, chicken, meat slices, and a selection of delicious cakes that had been freshly prepared that morning. There was plenty of tea and coffee available with refills, and the bar was open if needed. I want to extend a big thank you to The Red Lion and their staff, as I was thoroughly impressed with the experience.
