Just across the road from the Engelberg train station, Kafikaufbar is perfectly located for a pre-hike breakfast. Sumptious portions are served along with good coffee. Payments are only accepted in cash.

We had a chicken curry salad and today's soup. Everything tasted just fine, but was nothing special. Best thing with the restaurant is the location and the tables in the sun. Be aware, they only accept cash.

We asked for a banana milkshake, and they made one especially for us, although it was not on the menu! I also forgot my sweater and they sent it to me by post without a second question, although I offered to pay for the costs.

Had an hour to lunch while we waited for our train back to Lucerne. This pretty place is right opposite the train station. We had the most delicious German pizza (flame cake). It was perfect!!! Enough for 2. Also a delicious beer. Service was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Wir waren für ein frühes Mittagessen mit unseren Kindern in der kafikaufbar. Einen Miniteller leere Pasta ohne Sauce für die Kindern kostete stolze 8.-. Als wir auf der Toilette waren wurde unser Tisch abgeräumt, ohne zu fragen ob wir noch etwas wollten, obwohl besagte Gäste Gäste erst in einer halben Stunde eintreffen sollten...einen kaffe hätten wir schon gerne noch gehabt...schade

Went for lunch to this cafe. They have a limited menu but good choices. Eclectic collection of tables and chairs. And one large sharing table. Menus in multiple languages. We had a soup sandwich, the menu with fish , and flatbread made out of puff pastry type ingredient (flamme kitchen if I remember correctly). Tasty food and good service. Plenty of parking nearby if you are driving.

Wer mit dem Luzern-Engelberg-Express im Klosterdorf eintrifft, kann sich in der "alternativen" kafikaufbar schnell einen guten Cappuccino in der XL-Tasse genehmigen. Dazu findet er eine gute Patisserie zum Verweilen. Ein grösserer Hunger kann mit einem ansehnlichen Flammenkuchen gestillt werden. Gäste aus verschiedenen Ländern wie Einheimische finden hier schnell Kontakt. Die altertümliche Toilette bietet Handhygiene mit alternativen Handtüchern.

Wir waren nun schon einige Male hier. Der Kaffee ist sehr gut und auch die Speisenkarte ist gut zusammengestellt. Es gibt lauter kleine Bistro-Gerichte. Ich hatte schon einige Male die Tagessuppe. War immer sehr lecker bisher. Letzte Woche hatte ich einen Salat Teller mit Feta. Der war ebenfalls lecker. Das Lokal ist immer gut besucht. Vieles, wie Dekoration und Inventar sind kaufbar. Daher der Name. Kartenzahlung ist nicht möglich, nur Bargeld. Lage ist zentral und draußen kann man auch sitzen bei Sonne. Immer gerne wieder.

We went in the afternoon when the handwritten board outside had a few things that seemed nice. When we got in, the woman grabbed waiting behind the counter! We almost went out except that a nice woman who also worked there let us know that we could sit anywhere, although not so clear. We sat down, there was only one other table that had just ordered, and our jackets were removed than the 2. Workers came and asked us if the drinks they had were ours. We said no, a few more customers came in. I went to order and show my certificate. She said my husband had to come. I said he'd be like he was at the table with the kids, but she stopped, so we gave in. Then I tried to order and they had only one...
