"A friend and I visited last Thursday for lunch and drinks and after being served at the bar, decided to hire out a pod at a cost of £10. We frowned at each other as we have sat in these previously for no cost however they now have heating in them and a lady brought us out a gadget enabling us to listen to music via our phones.... I don't understand technology! Service was excellent and both food and drinks were enjoyed. The highlight of the King's head is undoubtedly the riverside garden..... Beautiful surroundings and I am always genuinely surprised that this pub, which is situated on the long distance Nene way walking path as well as the River nene, is always so quiet. There is no signage telling people that the best pub in the county is there! Oh well.... We had it to ourselves. Excellent. Visited 18th October 2023"

We had a wonderful Christmas lunch and the The King's Head. The service was so attentive, the food was delicious and portions exceptionally generous. The whole experience was memorable. Thank you so much.

Had a lovely afternoon tea, the food was delicious, plenty of sandwiches and cakes which were all very nice, tea was replenished as soon as we asked and the two young ladies working there were very friendly. Lovely visit.

After flagging with the waitress that a member of our party was very allergic to mustard, we found a menu item which we were assured was mustard-free, Said person was then the dish with a large amount of the ingredient and was subsequently very unwell. View menu

We got a warm greeting from the lovely hostess who was extremely accommodating throughout our stay. The sandwiches were very fresh and contained quality fillings. The scone was humongous and crumbly. The cakes were proper old fashion squares of home-cooked treats (there were a couple of macaroons too). Nothing not to like ... a great place for afternoon tea if you are that way ...

Brilliant place. Lovely food- always fresh and delicious. Great staff, really friendly and helpful. Lovely garden down to the river, and pods fir private dining if it’s too chilly to sit outside. Dogs welcomed, and children have room to run about on the grass. Great offers during the week, pizza evenings, tapas evenings and the normal great menu. Love this place, if in the area do visit.

Visited the Kings Head last month and had a superb Sunday lunch, so decided to rebook for a friends birthday today, well it couldn 't have more disappointing.... they had run out of orange juice, the pate clearly wasn 't chicken liver parfit, the cottage pie I asked my friend to try who is also a home cook of 50 yrs plus and her reaction was school dinner as it was so bland. Certainly not the experience of the month before. The party of 4 agreed we will not be returning. View menu

Stopped off at this pub today which has character and beautiful gardens. Nearly empty apart from 4 other dining. Went to the bar and was totally ingnored by the person behind the bar who was more intent being on social media and speaking to a solitary female barside. She looked up at me no greeting and returned to her phone and chat! 100% ignored. I returned to my partner outside and said we will go elsewhere! What awful service! If that's the standard I for sure will never return and suggest others do the same!

We were treated to an evening meal by friends in one of the pods and it was fantastic. Great food superb service and a lovely warm pod. In fact it was so good that we decided to return for Sunday lunch and again booked a pod. Despite it absolutely pouring down the service was just as good and the food was once again excellent. Portions are large, everything we tried was tasty and well seasoned. The Sunday roasts are really wonderful. Thanks to all the staff for making both our visits so enjoyable and we shall certainly return.

"a difficult review when the restaurant tried to provide the service that I am sure they wanted. a busy Saturday midday in December, all the tables were tightly packed, there were no ceiling ventilation or were all windows open to provide covid ventilation protection. the menu is large with a lot of choice. we went for a selection of starters to share under the family. most were very small dishes, the flower flowers bites consisted only small floccules. I think that this was too expensive for everyone. for the net I divided half a steak/ale cake and crispy chili bark. the bark in the torte was chewing and blande, the chips rode in a customs of their life, and the muddy peas were simply crushed, cultivated garden. the chili beef on the other side was sensational, fully spiced, steaming hot and loads of it, with rice and crack. the dishes could no longer differ in quality and taste. similar mixed results were reported from the rest of the table. I appreciate that covid has hit local food companies hard and they are still trying to get their pre-pandemic service. there were many guests who were fed and the kitchen struggled to supply consistency; our main dishes were delivered in intervals, so we did not eat together and it took to put the net on the table. as mentioned it was brushed, but a service fee was added to the bill. I think this is a bad service, even if one takes into account the difficulties of the covid. I hope that this feedback will be taken and traded so that we can see an improvement when we visit next."

"this was my birthday contract with the children (in their 40's go to lunch big situation, but the management is missing in action. we smiled at the typos. the menu, but it turned out to be a symptom of deficiency...view to detail. very friendly (but quite inexperienced waiting staff. great location and a very warm welcome. water came pretty fast. the starters were pretty good (3 ham hock croquettes and a panko chicken. the mains were another thing. two fish and chips very nice, good portions and well presented. burger was terrible. here is the menu description 6oz coarsely ground beef burger, candied speck, soft bevel, cheddar cheese, salattomate . the reality was a burger in a bungalow with a piece soggy salat and maybe some cheese. no speck, no tomats, no wobble so £18 for an average qualitysburger and they have to pay extra for riders! To conclude that there was at least 5 10 minutes after the other net, so we sat just wait and had to ask the waitress when it came. description • crispy confit ente bein, herby buttermilk waffel, fried due egg with maple senf dressing the reality that was inspected and watery it looked out and tasted as if it were boiled to death. the herby buttermilk waffel was chewing and certainly in a blind taste test I would swear that there is no more crumble in. to cover, it was cold. the sniffing was nicely spread in the waffles that gave them a taste. we also ordered the knochenmark from the menu. No one had said to the poor waitress that they should have been ordered to tell the diners what was going on and no. the menu. when we complained, the manager had not even come the courtesy and see us they left the poor junior waiterin to explain that the speck had not come with the delivery to the last day (one ever heard that he jumps out of the super market to buy some? and there was no excuse for the missing tomats, very badly sorry for us, so on. desserts the brownie was very nice, but the eton mess was a catastrophe. it came in a small delicate glass. in the ground a buckling of whipped cream with some slabs of stone hard meringue and some earthy with stems overfilled with some earthberry syrup. after bending the spoon. we decided to solve it by hand. I was afraid that I would break a tooth on the notched position that really needed to be served with a hammer. the only way to eat the earthy was to pick them up from the body, to bite and to eat to which time our hands were covered in sauce. on the plus side, they drew the price of the burger and Eton fair and 25% of the duck, as we had 3 glasses of wine and a koks, the bill was still over £120 without drinking money. to say that by my choice of restaurants, I would be embarrassing a rough understatement."
