"Just simply awful. The antipasto of frutti di mare was disgusting. A tiny bowl of mussels on a platter that had butter shavings a blob of what I think were shrimps in a sauce (didn’t touch that). For our mains my partner had gnocchi with gamberi and zucchini. I had scaloppini ai porcini. They were just about edible. Sides are at an extra charge. I didn’t get any and my scaloppini were served with a splattering of carrots. It looked like canteen food. What a shame as the location is bang in the centre of Malcesine. They say you can’t eat badly in Italy. Well this belies that. Woke up some 4 times that night with an unhappy stomach. Don’t get drawn in by the full restaurant. They are all foreigners like we were. We should have noticed and moved on when we didn’t see an Italian in sight."

the manager is of an overwhelming emotion, I was walking in the square in front of the place when he convinced me to have lunch with them. with menu in the fort recommended what are the typical dishes and the specialties of the day, recommended not a couple of dishes suggesting that those were more suitable for the German palates than for the Italian ones. the first are served in copper vessels, in abundant portions. all pasta are homemade. well also the picce, although personally I recommend a good first with the fish of the lake. at the end of the meal offer you a delicious coffee sorbet.

We visited this restaurant 4 times during our visit. Twice for lunch and twice for dinner! After our first lunch visit, we all had pizza, they were all perfect! They gave us complementary ice coffee’s! My son loved it so much we went 3 more times, he can be difficult and very fussy, so keeping him happy makes us all happy! My spaghetti with mussels was probably the best I’ve ever had! Home made spaghetti! The little fried potatoes are lovely but they’re not French fries! (I preferred them but teenagers don’t get it! After each meal they gave us either iced coffee, or Limoncello and also a glass of Prosecco! They’re generous, attentive and kind and the food is ‘lovely’.

"After narrowly missing out on lunch in another village location we were 10 mins too late for service) we made our way up the mountainside towards Tremosine in hope! We passed one prospect but the plastic tablecloths and cheesy music put us off and so we continued on up the very narrow and tricky to pass mountain road. Lovely views but a nightmare road where we got jammed in gridlock on the way down. On the way up on the right hand side a large car park opened up next to a rustic looking building and this looked like, if nothing else, a good spot to have a short walk or turn the car around and head back down the road. However, it shortly became apparent that many maybe all) the visitors in this large car park were visiting the Ristorante Brasa. We soon found out why. Rustic chic, low prices, good food and a great atmosphere full of locals, birthday parties etc). We found the service very friendly and attentive. The food was very good rather than absolutely excellent but great value and I think the subject of rather harsh judgement from us due to being spoilt at other locations. By this time I was very hungry and over ordered not unheard of). A large and very good Vitello Tonnato enough for two my partner helped me along a little together with her large salad). Followed by a tasty home made and probably wood oven cooked) lasagne for me and pasta with cheese, mushrooms and prawns for my partner a little heavy but good). The stand out course was the grilled chicken. This was clearly cooked in the wood oven. Crispy, slightly dark and delicious on the outside, herbs permeating the dish, moist and tender on the inside This is highly recommended! All in all a welcome, excellent value and recommended lunch stop. Probably improved if you have a motor bike or a helicopter as getting there is definitely something for the brave or those with an already modified vehicle."
