"Last week we went to “La Rustica” again with a couple we were friends with. We were looking forward to a lovely evening and had a good, delicious meal there. When it was time to leave, we asked the waiter for the bill. When he asked if everything was okay, we dared to make a small comment about our “Carpacio” starter. Unfortunately, the meat was still so cold that it hurt my teeth. We ate the dish and didn't complain; it should be a constructive criticism that every kitchen should actually be grateful for. For the waiter, however, this was more of an “ lese majesty ” and we were told in an extremely condescending manner that this had to be the case because everything was made fresh and ultimately did not come from “Bofrost”, as is usual in other restaurants. We then tried again to explain what the comment was about, but we ran out of chances. He disappeared without a word and came back with the bill. A total bill that we wanted to have split between us because of the different food and drinks we ordered. Shouldn't be a problem in any restaurant. Things turned out differently. In order to clarify who had eaten and drank what, he rattled off the individual items on the invoice and it quickly became clear to us that a complete round of drinks was overcharged. Unfortunately, it was clear to the gentleman from the start that the mistake was ours. He also didn't accept our explanation that every couple at the table had ordered a round and it was therefore clear that there couldn't be three. Instead, he pulled his employee over to our table and had her confirm that she had brought the third round of drinks. Can it get any more embarrassing? Our colleagues then did their own calculation and put the appropriate amount on the table. The waiter couldn't calm down and when the manager of the house was finally called in, we had the brief hope of being able to speak to him in a sensible tone. Unfortunately, his attitude did not contribute to de-escalation. He didn't want to or couldn't bring himself to help clarify things. “What should I say now? If my staff says you got the drinks….?” Yes, what should the interested guest say about this? “Too bad, La Rustica!”"
