"We ate on the terrace in front of the café overlooking the newly constructed area around the port. Great views overlooking Port St Louis. Very un -commercialised. Local people frequented which is always a good sign. They had varied menu obviously leaning towards fish. However...they had no mussels even though they were advertised. We were there at 12 and no one else was dining so that was a bit of a surprise. two of us chose the menu de midi which at around 12 euros for 2 courses was good value. The charcuterie platter starter was to die for. I can't say how much we enjoyed it. The men had the faux filet steak and said it was really good. I had hake and rice and it was really tasty and well cooked. Great location with lovely walks around the coast for a preamble or post lunch stroll. You can catch the short ferry to Port Louis from just in front of the café. I would return for lunch and would liked to have gone to some of the celtic musical events and dined with live music too. A nice informal little tucked away place that was introduced to us by friends. We need to go back when moules re-appear !"

We live on site and have visited la taverne on 4 occasions. It was always good and our visitors from the USA really enjoyed it. The Cote du boeuf was for dying and sometimes we just go for a beer there after a...walk on the amazing beach and enjoy their plank for 15 euros. A beautiful selection of cheese and cold meat that serves as a lunch. we really go there tonight.

Very friendly welcome and come despite our late arrival and without reservation. There is often a small table to dress at the last time the host, the host, puts Heart at work and likes to satisfy his client. It was a beautiful autumn Sunday, it was their last day of service before a well-deserved holiday. And cherry on the cake, we enjoyed a meal prepared with a real talent worthy of some good restaurants. The desserts included starry gastronomy. Thanks to them for the love of well done work. We will return with the expectation of the surprise at the corner of the mouth.
