"This is the nearest, and perhaps only, restaurant within walking distance of the Sangello Park Hotel where we were staying. It's busy and the hotel reception are happy to make a reservation: they offered either 7.30pm or 9pm. The establishment is remarkably efficient, both in terms of table service and the speed with which food appears from the kitchen. Such hyperactivity isn't particularly relaxing, but the restaurant's popularity, with several large groups of local Italian diners, generates a pleasant buzz. There's a good choice of mostly German bottled beers on a separate menu. Avoid the carafe of house white shown on the main menu, which was horrible; the glass of red we asked for on our second visit was much better. On the first night we both had a generously portioned, pistachio-crusted tuna steak, accompanied by roasted aubergine and green leaves, which was under-seasoned and imparted less flavour than we were hoping. We fared better on the second night: my beef strips were really tender and the octopus burger opposite looked good and came with some excellent potato wedges."

Excellent food with very large servings. We order a first and second course, with no appetizer, but their servings are huge! The sea food soup, cacciucco, or boulabois , is a meal in itself. My wife ordered a seafood risotto. Both as 1st courses, which were very good. But then we wondered why we ordered the secondi as we were full. The tuna with pistachio is excellent!

No doubt that La Veranda serves very good food. Prices are reasonable, and taste of both pizza, pasta and desserts are good. The place is really busy from around 2100. Until then it’s quiet, which is why it surprised me, that for both main course AND dessert, one person from the party had to wait 5-10 minutes getting the food, while the rest were served. Honestly a bit disappointing. Would I go again? Maybe? But when would be a good time, to avoid this slow service??
