"A restaurant which for local standards is expensive and with proper table linen and service and where we have eaten before for special occasions. But this time (OUR ANNIVERSARY) we were disappointed. The waitress we knew so no problems with service and aperitifs arrived promptly. Our starters of fois gras for me and crab for my wife were excellent but the main course was a major disappointment. We both ordered veal cooked pink (Rosé.) to our horror the world's largest piece of meat arrived (would make a texan steak look small) and was can only be described as grey in colour and sadly taste. We both had mouthfuls and then decided that no more was possible and called the waitress over and said sorry not pink (in french of course.) She went to the kitchen and came back saying Catalan veal was this colour but we laughed! She recognised that we were unhappy and then took it away and asked what else would we like. Having ordered some red wine we did not go the fish option and chose filet mignon of pork. When it did arrive 30 minutes later we were really going off the idea of eating but tried. The portions were again enormous though the pork was fine but nothing delicate at all. We just wanted some delicate food well cooked not monster portions in what pretends to be a fine dining restaurant. Oh where was the finesse? The pork came with stir fry vegetables which were for us overdone no doubt being already prepared for an earlier customer. We could not face dessert but we both had a nice coffee! The wine was fine. But where oh where is the french finesse in a smart restaurant -it was more like the monster quantities one can get in a british pub. We will try again one day but stick firmly to the "Menu Catalan" where they do exercise some degree of portion control and serve fresh produce not something clearly taken out of the freezer. C'est la vie."

If you want to sample authentic French old world cuisine then "Le Chat" is the place ! The chef is great and the waiter could not do enough for us! The wine list is regional and of great quality. The chef is more than happy to pair the wine for you. The portions are very generous and the quality is excellent!

On arrival I realised that we really did not need to make a reservation as we were the only guests apart from one other table for one.The food was good, delicious selection of local Catalan cold meats followed by a perfectly cooked piece of veal and my ever delightful companion had an equally delicious fish dish. The wine choice was small but good. Just very strange eating in a deserted restaurant on a Friday evening.

Visited without reservation after being recommended from friends. We were welcomed despite the restauraunt was close to being full. I took the vegetarian dish and the fish dish which was a la carte, and my husband took the veal chop. The cooking and the seasoning was great and the waitress very friendly. The wine list was full of local wines, great for the producers of the area.I recommend this restaurant and we will be sure to return

We went to this particular restaurant, because of a good dinner two years ago. This time, it was the worst dinner I had in years. Six people, six different orders and the same impression: awful! I asked for fresh fish and the fish smelled so bad, I couldn´t eat it. Our complain was ignored, no offer for a substitute nor an offer for coffee or something else. We paid the full bill 50 Euro each for nothing, just nothing.Whatever happened to this restaurant, we will not take the risk again.

First time visiting this area of France with my wife and children, and we decided to stop at this restaurant as we were passing by, We were well greeted upon arrival, and seated in a warm and colourful dining room with a nice ceiling which was painted by a local painter. The meals were quickly served for a busy night with 2 waitresses, were always pleasant and took the time to listen. The prices are very reasonable for the food we were served (fresh produce from local markets in the area) and the restaurant was very clean especially the toilets.Thank you for the wonderful evening and we will be sure to return in the future.

Business today in the area so we had to eat in France despite living in Spanish Catalunia. Lunch for four was a treat. Starters of tomato soup with chorizo, followed by fish (3 of us) and chicken (1 of us) on home-made pasta with lemon sauce, followed by sorbets. All excellent. With apéritives, wine and coffees it came to €25 a head which for France is a bargain. All served (and excellent friendly service too) outside in a tranquil garden surrounded by flowers and trees. If you can't wait for lunch until you cross the border into Spanish Catalunia, where the food is better and cheaper and restaurants stay open past 2 p.m, this is the place for you. We would go there again without hesitation.

The restaurant is easy to find on the main D115 road between Ceret and Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda. There is free parking at the back of the restaurant. Bookings are recommended so we made a booking by email which was easy to do. We dined from both the Catalan menu and the a la carte. The Catalan menu is a fixed price of €26 and offered a good selection of food to suit all tastes. We had the sea bass which was great and presentation was excellent. The food was all freshly prepared. The a la carte menu had more choices but was slightly more expensive – the sea bass alone was €22. The dessert was no choice on the Catalan menu but was a red berry cappuccino which was very refreshing. We dined in th...

To get the only minus point out of the way - Le Chat Qui Rit is located along a busy and noisy main road, although it's not visible behind a hedge. There, that is it. Good points: sit in the garden outside under the sun awnings and shaded by trees and vines and you will think you are in heaven. There are only half-a-dozen tables: the service - friendly staff - is first rate and the food inventive and superb. On a hot day their cold soup is restorative. They even elevate a humble (if ecologique) pork sausage to a high level. In a country not known for its gastronomic qualities, this is one French restaurant you will be sorry to leave: it is that good. We paid €75 for two people, including dri...

Those travellers who have passed Perpignan and Le Boulou and are heading up the valley of the River Tech towards Arles sur Tech on the D115 should slow down when they see the signs for the tiny community of Reynes, because right there is the restaurant of the laughing cat, or Le Chat que Rit and it's worth a visit if you can't wait until you cross the border into Spain. Lunchtime hours are a strict 12:00-14:00 and the menu is not very large but what there is, is good. You can sit outside in the garden - lovely in the mild spring or warm late autumn, although in summer the traffic makes this rather noisy - or indoors: service is reasonably good (for France) and some of the dishes are well tho...

"the ranking particularly flattering of this 2nd restaurant on 137 restaurants makes the customer's expectations always high. The risk of being disappointed is, then, great. It was not, quite, the case here, but a few weak points make the culinary experience below that was hoped. Also, let's be precise and circumstantial to better understand this view the room includes about twenty blankets, arranged in a small decorating room without charm, or identity. Obviously, a reflection must be made to make the place more friendly and warm at a time, attention is drawn to the dishes offered. the products used are fresh and local. it is clear that a special care is focused on the desire to offer a closed kitchen and bring producers of the region to a closure. But, what's really about the kitchen in the gallery? Well, the young chef, alone in the kitchen, masters his dishes and makes a point of honor to send plates to the visual and soothing works. Its cuisine is very tasty and generous. However, it is difficult not to say that taking risks is fairly low. in fact, offering a charcuterie plaque, however beautiful, it is, is not really part of the culinary art. idem for a perigonurdine salad that does not spill codes or taste buds. pastry, and more precisely, the mille-feuilles benefit from a satisfactory realization, but there again, we are far enough from what is done better and especially more original in this field the wines proposed are at very reasonable prices and always put to the honor of local products. - service is done with smile and efficiency. conclusion: of course, the skill of the gallery is to offer spectacular plates visually and which have flavors whose chef does not have to rougir. However, the expectation of something more consistent with the ranking is not fulfilled. you can only invite this restaurant to take the risk of a kitchen can be less beautiful but more engaged and bolder for taste buds. Certainly, this could lead, as incredible as that, to a decrease in the threeadvisor classification. Is the risk really worth the candle? Nothing is less certain..."
