"My husband and I stayed in the village of Exideuil for a few days and this was the only place to have dinner, some vino, and be able to walk to our accommodation. It is an unassuming place from the street and quite basic looking inside. We sat in the outside area at the back of the bar and watched the sunset. The four course formule was 11euro 50 and was generous. Buffet starter, all very fresh and varied. The main was a choice of two. On our visit I had chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, yum and my husband said his duck was fine. We had a choice of green beans or frites and the beans were generous. There was a selection of desserts to choose from and we went for a light jelly type thing! Chocolate for me and pistaccio for my husband. Light and refreshing. Oh, i forgot there was a cheese course which we were allowed to help ourselves to. Nothing fantastic about the cheeses but hey, at these prices it is a bonus. We ordered a carafe of red wine and it turned out to be included in the fixed price menu! The staff are very nice and spoke in slow french and tried to explain things in french which made it reasonably easy to get the gist. I would definitely recommend trying this place, especially if you are staying at la belle vienne guesthouse in the village but even if you are passing through it is worth popping in."

Had lunch with friends as such good value for money. There is a generous buffet to start with which includes meats, salad, pate and pie slices. There is always a choice of two mains and I chose the steak which came with a pile of frites. Next is the cheese course followed by a choice from the desserts tray. Naturally red wine is also included in the price. This is a great opportunity to have a leisurely lunch without breaking the bank.

My husband and I were staying close by in Exideuil and wanted to eat somewhere local that was within walking distance. Following a friendly welcome we chose to sit in the outside seating area to make the most of the sunshine. Both of us ordered the menu de jour and enjoyed 4 courses with some wine for 12€! The food was good, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was friendly. Should I return to this area in the future I would definitely return.

My Wife and I ate here whilst house hunting and staying in Exideuil. As previously mentioned, the place is no looker but the welcome was very friendly when we arrived, with hand shakes all around. We settled on the menu de jour, which amounted to buffet starter, plate de jour, cheese, dessert and a small carafe of red or white wine, all for the amazing price of 12.5 euros. My Wife is a vegetarian and was able to change the plate de jour for an omelette without any fuss. We sat in the beer garden at the back and enjoyed the last of the day's sunshine. The food will never win any awards but if you are looking for plenty of it and want a drink without driving, this place if worth a visit.

The sign outside reads Chez Toi so we wasted ten minutes looking for Le Rivage! That sign is actually inside the restaurant! The bar/restaurant space is very basic, with plain decoration, but well supported that day by locals and passing workmen...We opted for the menu du jour at €13, as the other menu choices (burger, andouillette, omelette, horse steak, kebab) didn 't appeal . The four courses on offer that day were help-yourself cold buffet, main of black pudding or lasagne, then cheese and dessert. The buffet was varied and well prepared, probably the best part of the meal. We chose the lasagne main, which was served with mountains of green salad. The lasagne was mostly pasta, with smear...
