"My husband and I wanted to try a barbecue place here and this place was close to us so we decided to try after the reviews and pictures. We arrived and the workers spoke limited English. They told us that they were a "different" restaurant where "customers cook" and they just "supervise"? I'm going to write exactly what you're suppose to do below, to help those who were like us who were very new to the place and had no clue what was going on lol. What you should expect:- Workers speak little to no English. - The restaurant is like a buffet. You walk in, ask for a table and the worker will show you around and try to tell you what their restaurant is all about. You pay after you eat (price is set). - There's a salad bar, if you want sautéed salad, pick a plate, fill it with whatever toppings you'd like, choose the sauce/etc and give it to the owner who'll sauté it for you. - On your table, there's barbecue holders, take these barbecue holders to the grilling area, you'll see varieties of meats and sausages, fill the barbecue holders with the selected meats you want and place it on the grill or if the cook is there, he'll take it and grill it. (The cook should be there to grill your meats. He'll give it to you when it's cool but you should stand and wait for it). - There's a beverage selection m including wine too. There's a small decanter available too. Fill it with whatever beverage you want. (We thought these were like glasses since there were no glasses there. We took sips on them while we waited for our barbecue and the chefs laughed at us don't make that same mistake). - There's also varieties of desserts available. This place offers a new experience for sure but the meats are good but it's nothing fancy."

Great place, unique concept. Very friendly. Loved the vegetable-buffet. It was not busy arriving at 19h. Good fun with my food-critical puberty-boys????.

The Sans Gene has 11 years but at this location it is 7 months. The formula is nice. You choose your meat and your vegetables. Somebody will take care of your plates and cook them.. The time you select your water and wine your dinner is ready.Worth trying

that was our first time here. we did not speak French, only English, but the personal and especially our waitress, marie was extremely patient, friendly and accommodating. eating was extraordinary and the choices abundant. we are in the city two nights and will be back. our second night in the city. I recommend this restaurant.

Very good value for money. Great food (local meat, vegatables and desserts). For a fixed price you can eat and drink as much as you like. Kids (till 13) pay €15, adults €25. You choose your meat and it is grilled on the bbq. Vegetables can be cooked on a plate for you. Leave some space for the desserts! Very kind service from the staff. Great place in a very charming street. We would definitely go there again.

I am always reluctant to go to places where you cook your own food as I then question what I'm paying for. The location is brilliant set just off the Main Street in the old part of the city not far from the castle. We got seated and told the rules on what and how to do things, and then we set off. I must say that we were a group of 30 so this may have some baring on the outcome. But only being able to cook 3 items at a time it seems a lot of effort for not a lot reward after you spend ages waiting for it to cook. Now I understand the cook may have felt pressure to cook things quick but 1 out of the 3 things was not cooked. So it put us off the rest of the meal.On the plus side, it's all you ca...

We were attracted in by the 'all you can eat and drink' menu. Not speaking or reading French, we didn't understand that the 'all you can drink' was red, white or rosé wine only! Not being wine drinkers, we had eight bottles of 25cl Heineken and were charged €36 for the beer! That works out at about £7-£8 a pint!!! We were not impressed!! Very misleading!! Also, I had filled a barbeque basket with sausages that I knew I would like, but the guy supervising the cooking moved the baskets around, and when I went to retrieve my basket, it had gone!! I ended up with a basket that had sausages that I had no idea what they were, and when I cut into the first one it was still pink! Needless to say I d...

"Restaurant in a warm setting and where you feel good. On the other hand, we rarely saw such a shipping server: called recited dishes at all speeds and did not even have time to hear our question that it had already gone. I never asked if the meal was going well, not even at the end of the meal where it was only to reach the payment terminal without saying a word if it is a final "good-bye"... It may not have been his day but it makes the experience unpleasant. This can happen, but we also found two pieces of food wire in a canelloni. Too bad because some dishes were excellent. PS: I can't answer the following owner's message, so I do it here: This is your establishment, we took the menu in 7 movements on Saturday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. The exact name might not be canelloni but it was a plant aviole in which there were two small transparent threads. To confirm that it was your restaurant, we also ate: emulsion egg with truffle (delicious), focaccia, sacred jacques in several kitchens with radish, foie gras cooked in a pot of juice with fire, rice with smoked milk (delicious), carpaccio mushroom and pork play if I'm not mistaken, etc. Saké as first agreement, etc. The main dish was 'a great chicken man' as we described the master of the hotel when we asked him the name of the dish and that he did not take the time to return to the repeat table. I confirm his behavior more than limit. One of the waitresses also served us twice was very pleasant and professional. I can call you if you need further explanations."
