"The Malapel family has been running this restaurant since 1945, when the structure was part of the local railway station. Les Platanes specialises in the cuisine of the Dombes and Bresse. This evening we had hors d'oeuvres of foie gras de canard poêlé, terrine maison and carp sausage. For the entrée a selection of grenouilles, lake fish, Bresse chicken and Charolais beef, followed by a choice selection of mostly local cheeses, and the freshest desserts of sorbets from fresh forest fruits. The wine was a 2012 Givry from Joseph Drouhin in south Burgundy. The service was friendly and attentive, and the ambience inviting and unpretentious. Mme Malapel took care to talk with all her guests, and her son Serge heads the kitchen. In summer the terrace under the plane trees is very popular, but this year the weather has not been so kind. I would recommend Les Platanes unreservedly to anybody who seeks to try the local cuisine in Dombes/Bresse."
