"We were sitting in a nearby bar using tripadvisor to find a restaurant near us. We are so pleased we did. You will either stumble upon this restaurant by accident or miss it completely. It's not on a main road (which makes the view from the window even better) so we recommend you make the effort to find it. We are two typical non French speaking English looking for French food. We were not disappointed as most of the 'petit' menu was French. The place is very small but strangely there are a lot of tables yet it doesn't feel cramped. We had a lovely friendly welcome and lots of help with the menu. There are also hand written notes of suggestions from the chef. Even though the menu is small we were struggling to choose as it all sounded so good. We both chose different mains so we could try both and they were both delicious and well presented. If we hadn't have been leaving Lille the next day then I think we would've booked a table for the following evening. We had no room for dessert but couldn't turn it down anyway. It was very nice so it was a good move for the head if not for the waist. Prices were reasonable and we felt they were a bargain given the quality of the food. Tip: Book ahead and try to get the table by the window upstairs."

Very cosy restaurant with friendly staff. You can see it is a family business and that they take care of their custumers and love to cook homemade dishes. Real recommendation for lunch!

Our dinner was a sheer pleasure from start to finish. Although the menu is limited each dish is excellent and good value, as is the wine. The owner was charming. Well worth a visit but it would be a good idea to book well in advance - the restaurant is very small!

Excellent food in an original French setting. Just on the outskirts of Veille Lille, we found this cozy inn. Appetizers ordered were snails in creamy cheese sauce and tartin Endive, both very tasty with a bottle of beer. Main dish was the potatoes in Morailles sauce, with bacon. Hearty and rich! Desserts just a piece of Lemon meringue pie and an espresso. Total bill for two 55 Euro.

Sent two emails for a reservation two weeks before my visit that were completely ignored. Went today with a friend at the time requested and we were turned away as soon as we spoke English. The waiter then seated a French group immediately after we left. Very disappointing after reading the reviews and walking across town to find the restaurant. They should be thoroughly ashamed. Disgraceful behaviour!

Small menu (usually a good sign) plus some specials (and the current wine list) handwritten in an exercise book (which added to the charm immediately). Owner was very pleasant. We were amazed by the quality for the very reasonable price (food and wine). Delicious starters (lasagne with goat's cheese and smoked salmon and vege raviolis). Thought these were going to be hard to beat but excellent main courses as well (pork in beer and cod 'fish and chips' but a bit different to your average British takeaway! Really pleased to have eaten here (we spotted it whilst walking round the Old Town earlier in the day and were very glad we chose to try it)

Tucked away from the main street it's not an obvious choice. From the outside it does not look appealing but don't let that put you off. When you enter, it's a completely different experience. You are greeted by the owner. The seating area is tiny but warm and cosy. So don't forget to book a table to avoid disappointment. The a la carts menu is relative small but in addition to this they present a handwritten book with the specials on. The food is home cooked and simply delicious. There is vast choice of beers and drink. We tried a local beer and it was awesome. See photo. I am in complete awe with this lovely family restaurant with a great and personal service. I shall be back next time I a...

On our second visit to Lille, we had to go to the same restaurant where we had such an enjoyable culinary experience in 2015 and was only topped with such a friendly, gentle and generous host (who is also the owner and spoke flawless English which was a great help to us) that made quite an impression on us. The food and the accompanying wine selection are PERFECT .. Our favourite entrée l'Escargot à Maroilles is out of this world and the main plates and desserts were equally so delicious - just like the very first time we were there .. Our host was very helpful in assisting us with selecting a great wine that went so well with the entrée and main plates AND it was not at all expensive - A BI...

This is one of those places that you feel you don't want to review so that you can keep it to yourself! We were in Lille for a few days and wandered in to it thinking it was a bar as it was so small. The owner pointed out that it was a restaurant but as it was getting towards the end of the evening he was very accommodating and offered us a table just to buy a drink. We felt his kindness needed rewarding by booking a table to eat the next evening and I'm so glad we did. It's a tiny place and you feel like you are going into someone's private house. The menu is simple, with daily specials handwritten in an exercise book .That being said it was absolutely delicious, I had the pan fried liver an...
