"We have dined at this restaurant multiple times over the years hoping for improvement, but we will not be returning. I am baffled by the praise that Malt Anchor receives. The fish portions are small and the batter is average at best. Even when opting for a pricier loin option, the quality is still lacking and comes at a steep price. The chips are below par and the overall experience is disappointing. It seems that those leaving positive reviews may not have a strong understanding of what truly good fish and chips should be. I recommend trying establishments like Magpie in Yorkshire, Seafarers in Lytham, Squires in Devon, or many others I have tried over the years for a taste of proper fish and chips. Don't be swayed by the popular opinion, consider other options for a better dining experience."

Overcooked fish and onion rings. So overcooked that all was entirely unenjoyable perhaps inedible. We did complain and were given replacements but these were not much better. Won't be coming back

We popped in here for the fish and chips.Service was excellent, lovely waitress but the food was remarkably average, the fish tasted like it had just been taken out of a supermarket box,it didnt taste fresh at all.I certainly wouldn't go back.

Went here for a spot of dinner with my mum and it did not disappoint one bit! Fresh fish, crunchy but fluffy chips and lovely selection on drinks on offer. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend this unique little restaurant. Noticed when leaving they also do deliveries and takeaway!!! Definitely coming back! View menu

Visited after seeing that they were in the top 10 in the uk, could not recommend enough, the portions are perfect and you definitely get what you pay for. Had a lovely chat with our waitress Olivia about their craft beers, we loved them so much that we purchased some to give to friends as gifts. Will be back. Good luck in the awards malt and anchor

This spot is the best fish and chips in town. Nice calm atmosphere, we had a couple of cocktails, and enjoyed the prawn calamari starter than the classic fish and chips as mains. Previously I have opted for their specials as they are always outstanding and always something new. Great service from Milly, attentive chatty. Looking forward to being back in the area to enjoy again soon.

I come from a seaside town on the east coast and have worked in a fish and chip shop, so I have some knowledge of the industry. I must say that this establishment may not survive in a seaside resort despite the good reviews and accolades. As another reviewer mentioned, there are better places to go. For example, try the Watermoor takeaway for good fish and chips without having to go all the way to Whitby. View menu

This place is an absolute gem. The fish is fresh, the batter is crispy perfection, and the chips are just the right amount of crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The portion sizes are generous, and their homemade tartar sauce is the perfect accompaniment. The ambiance is cozy, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. If you're a fan of fish chips, Malt Anchor is a must-visit. I can't recommend it enough!

Wow! I had the best dining experience at this restaurant today. It was my first time here and the food was amazing. My son loved his meal, and so did we! Our server, James, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the beer selection. I would highly recommend speaking to James if you visit this restaurant. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely be returning to try more items on the menu. Thank you!

"I had been in this pub for a while, but my family and I were on the way from cheltenham to Westonbirt at 17 o'clock and called for an early dinner. all four of us said that the meal was faultless, we enjoyed all three courses and cannot praise this place enough. such a great atmosphere, cordial greeting from the incredibly fabulous staff and a seat directly at the log tariff. what more can they demand. it is easy to find, beautiful location and has plenty of parking right next to the pub. in summer there is a large garden back. in februar this is the place to eat when they go to visit the colesbourne snowdrop gardens that are right in front of the house and not to miss. the menu at the colesbourne inn is huge and offers for everyone something wonderful, regardless of their taste or nutrition to choose. my calamari ‘Bar Bite’ size starter was superb and definitiw a greater part than we expected. the other appetizers, a black bell and black pudding with fried egg was superb as well as the bread selection we also ordered. mostly fish Pie....only full of a lot of different fish and whistle fish. my son had the steak and ale pier he claimed he was the best he had eaten in a very long time. two of us had the nut roast dinner.... I want my Christmas dinner to be as good as that. desserts of fruit crumbs and custard finished the meal with the obligatory glass or two of fizz. for each device in these times to offer this incredible selection of oriented, which is an absolute credit for them by the most kind of employees ever and the very high standards they did. highly recommended at any level possible. well made the colesbourne inn"
