"Girlfriend and I ate here in June. Had a table in the hallway as they were busy. I ordered a pizza and she ordered pasta. I thought the food was decent, but service was very very slow. If you want to plan for 2 hours for simple food and to pay and leave, this is the place! Waitresses had a knack for ignoring and walking by our table in the hallway when drinks were empty or we were trying to flag them down for the bill. This was very comical. I give this restaurant an average rating for committing the cardinal sin of wait staffs, letting one's drinks go empty for a long time and never checking to see if we needed more!"

My wife and I visit Herrenberg 2 or 3 times a year and at least one visit to the Marco Polo restaurant is an absolute must.

So so Italian place in Herrenberg. Pizza looked better than the past I had. A local told me the chef is Chech. House wine was good.

The food was ok. Everything tasted the same to me - pizza, pasta, soup. The service was good The most bothersome thing was the music was loud and sounded like some type of rap - wasn't quite fitting for an Italian restaurant.

Great Italian food and good service. The portions and prices are fair and the location is great. Its a bit hard to find as its in a wine cellar, but glad we tried it! Accommodated our party of 11 people which was hard to find for the area. View menu

This is a great restaurant for Italian and pizza. We sat outside to enjoy the nice weather (we've sat inside on previous trips). Service was good; menu's available in English; a wide variety to satisfy a large crowd. I had a pasta dish which was excellent.

Visited with friends as the restaurant is quite old and highly recommended. The food was excellent. You can opt to sit outside or choose to go down into the cellar which is a little tight but has plenty of character. If you're around Herrenberg and looking for well priced and good food, look no further.

I've had better pizzas delivered by courier. The pizza although fresh had that rubbery feel to the base you get from delivery services. Gross. I understand other dishes are quite ok so not all bad. Located in an old cellar with little in the way of accoustic damping it got quite loud and it was difficult to hold a conversation without shouting View menu

This is a very nice Italian restaurant in a basement setting. Although effectively underground, thanks to the stone walls and pleasing decor, it is still a very attractive place to eat.The staff are generally friendly and efficient. The restaurant is often busy. Therefore, at times, it can feel a little cramped and the stone walls don't help to keep the noise levels down. This latter point spoils the overall atmosphere rating. In summer one can sit outside in a reasonably pleasant area. The food is fresh & tasty and the prices represent good value for money.

We arrived without a reservation and the owner found us a table for two. Wine is served by the glass or bottle and is a good wine list. The house red wine is excellent. Our food was very nice (we both had pasta dishes) which were very well flavoured and fresh (often I find pasta dishes can be overpowered by rich tomato sauces, but the pasta we ate was very pleasantly cooked and flavoured.). We normally try to eat local food and used this restaurant as we arrived in the town late and they were able to seat us. However, if you like Italian food, then I would suggest you could do a lot worse ! We would certainly go back.

"Though this might be the first review I ever write on this site, it is not the first I read. As it so happened, I had some time to kill before boarding my next train, so I decided eating something would be a good Idea. After checking up online, I ended up picking this place, based on the positive reviews it had, even though I had to walk for 15 minutes to get there. Oh boy, was that a mistake.. After walking over there, I ended up in front of a closed door. Inside there were people eating, all of who seemed like they worked there, sharing a big table in the middle. It took them 30 seconds, althiugh I was acknowledged right away, to point at the other door, which as it appeared, was the main entrance. All I got up to this point were empty stares. As soon as I got in and ordered the "Yufka Special", I asked for the restroom (all in perfect german), but all I got was a mumbled "Hier, kein Klo", meaning it was all again in vain. The Yufka used a pre made store-bought bread, which was kind of surprising. For 5€ one would expect they'd make it themselves. The meat tasted alright, so did the vegetables, the sauce was way too thick and fat, almost mayonnaise-like. The "special" part I had payed extra for appeared to be 2 tiny slices of cheese, which to me was a joke. The size of the whole thing was sufficient at best, more like "I could have gotten another one, but thank God I didn't." All in all: Awful customer service, overpriced, small portions and no restroom. Never again. Bear in mind I registered to only write that review. So gigantic was my disappointment. Disclaimer: I have visited "döner-shops" in every major city in Germany, as well as in a broad range of countries all around Europe."
