"This vegetarian garden centre cafe served up a mozzarella and tomato pannini with a piece of bacon. The waitress was most concerned and said they had a two section grill which was used for everything be it meat or vegetarian which didn 't seem right, but as she was not kitchen staff it was difficult to comment. The manageress said it did not happen when she was in the kitchen.Basic hygiene keeps uncooked meat away from other items in the kitchen, so how is staff training managed in this establishment? A piece of bacon should in no way have appeared on a plate of vegetarian food.As a strict vegetarian I will never attempt to trust this establishment again, this went against all of my principles. They offered money back, which I refused, I did accept a much cheaper plant, the manageress did not seem to appreciate that some people choose not to eat meat and expect a vegetarian friendly establishment to understand the principles of keeping meat well away from their plates. It left me shocked and dubious about other food outlets."

Not great lunch, crowded, seamed loads of very large cakes on counter, place looking tired and dated.

We found this tearoom whilst out walking. The staff were friendly and didn’t mind our muddy boots. The coffee and cake were lovely. Good find

this is a lovely place to have lunch , tea, cakes etc but the older staff are surly and have an attitude problem. Good place to buy cards for all occasions

After several visits I feel qualified to give a balanced opinion on the tea rooms. Everything is absolutely delicious and served by the very friendly staff. Well worth a visit! View menu

My friend and I regularly go for coffee and cake. She has to use a wheelchair and this tea room has all facilities to make it easy and enjoyable. The staff are so helpful and always pleasant. Cakes and coffee fab. Stilton Panini wow.

Like others have said, Meynell Langley Garden 'Centre ' is a place to visit not only for stocking your garden but having a light salad lunch or tasty afternoon tea with homemade cakes! We love it as a basic but tasteful rustic eatery with nice salads and other snacks. Can get quite busy on sunny days.

We went for lunch at this charming tea room and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and clearly enjoyed their work. The portion sizes of the lasagna and cold beef salad were generous, accompanied by a fresh and delicious salad. The atmosphere was pleasant, and we will definitely be returning to this venue. First visit with daughter then a second visit with a friend a few days later. Both visits excellent. First meal, Tuna and Cheese panini with a lovely side salad and fantastic quality coleslaw. Second meal cheese and onion quiche with the same sides. Both meals were of excellent quality and not a bad price. Both days were also quite busy but service was surprisingly quick. Would highly recommend along with a visit to the plant sales.

Bright and airy tea rooms situated within the Meynell Langley Garden centre. Sat in the conservatory, what a great place to enjoy a drink and bite to eat especially with the fire on, welcoming and warm. Menu choice is quite small, which I like, sandwiches, salads, soup, jacket potatoes, paninis, home made cakes etc. Tea Rooms are well decorated, spotlessly clean and service from staff is quick, efficient and with a smile, which I like to see.

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
