We had a wonderful stay over Christmas at this restaurant. The food and drinks were perfect. Matt and his team were excellent hosts. The rooms were nice, the service was great, and the location was perfect. The hotel highlights were the amazing view and the great value.

Disappointing that there was only one beer on cask, with two more taps that could have been available Very good service at the bar, but please fix the ceiling lights in the bar area! There are some really terrible seats in the corner that are lit only by a spotlight that shines straight in your eyes. This pub is hugely valued by locals, but you need more than that to keep it going. Service: 4

Visited after a walk for lunch at a weekend, so had a different menu than in the week. Food was really good, nice ingredients and clearly taking care to create a diverse menu with a nice variety of options to all tastes and dietary requirements. We only ordered in the bar, so didn’t see the restaurant or the rooms, but overall it is a little tired inside and outside the garden needed a little bit of upkeep, but many people are mentioning new owners so guess its not something they’ve got round to yet.

We arrived later than expected due to heavy rain and traffic on the M40, not in the best mood. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly young lady, Maisie, who quickly checked us in and helped us with our bags to our room at the back of the building. The room was just as nice as the online picture, with a comfortable king bed, large shower, bath, and bathroom. Unfortunately, we had other commitments and couldn't spend time in the bar, but we must mention the delicious breakfasts prepared by Mandy. They were the best "full English" breakfasts we've had! The breakfast at this guest house is delicious. Guests have the option of a full English breakfast in either regular or vegetarian, as well as continental options and eggs on toast with tea and coffee. There is also yogurt and cereal available for self-service. The breakfast was prepared by a gentleman whose name I did not catch, but both days we enjoyed the regular and vegetarian English breakfast with fried and poached eggs. The meal was very filling and tasty. Our stay at the guest house was very pleasant. The rooms are decent with rustic charm and spacious bathrooms. In the room, there are complimentary tea, coffee, and bottled water. We would happily stay here again if in the area. One...
