"A small café-style restaurant not far from the centre of Perpignan, with easy parking directly opposite. Clean but lacking in atmosphere. The New Saigon has a very small menu, with only three dishes (two starters and one main course) that were genuinely Vietnamese, a point which was confirmed by the waiter/barman (possibly the owner). The other items were french meals with a vietnamese twist - usually the sauce. However, the dishes we had were very good, and the food is not expensive. To drink, we had a bottle each of Saigon beer, to ensure we were as authentic as possible. The waiter was very friendly, and he told us that the food was Traditional Vietnamese, but with a "modern" touch. We will certainly go again when in the area, if only because of the chance to try asian cuisine that is a little different to the ubiquitous (though not so in France) Chinese fare."

Delicious dishes. Nems with Porc wheat flour with a delicious caramel, it's been a long time since I had not eaten such a good one.

Nice little Asian restaurant. The welcome is excellent and the food is very friendly. The nems are worth it and crispy! The meat was too dry, but nothing serious. For a little family dinner, it's ideal and I recommend.

A smart restaurant. Excellent friendly service with limited English.Limited variety of meals available but the cooking is at a very high standard. Two courses for two with a bottle of wine and coffee will cost you about 40 euros.Thoroughly recommended. We came back for a second meal.

A nice little find and not too far off the beaten track either. Simple food with great flavors very reasonably priced. The soup and beef prawn cracker starters really wet the appetite and set us up nicely for a pork and duck main course. Nothing flash, but with a few interesting twists on Asian cuisine, this is well worth a visit. View menu

We were a party of 9 people including 3 children. The restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not understand French but the proprietress had her brother translate the menu for us and they were very patient with us. We loved the food... it was very tasty, flavorful and spicy. We loved the chicken curry, spring roll, the pork with rice !!! They waited after they closed to get us our second helping !!!

We went here to have a bite before taking the night train to Paris. It's about ten minutes walk from the train station. We left our luggage in one of the cafe's across the station as the station itself does not offer this service. The food was good, fresh and light and reasonably priced. Was it original Vietnamese? No idea, never been there. The Thai chicken was different from any Thai chicken I ever ate but still very soft and tasty. Don't expect anything fancy. It is just a small, simple place. Overall very satisfied and will come back.

Tried this due to tripadvisor reviews and loved it! The menus are only in French but the host did his best to explain. However all meals were excellent. Expect a lighter taste and flavour than most Chinese food in the UK, but this was a very pleasant change. The dishes I had were well cooked and seasoned and subtle in flavour with light sauces, fresh vegetables and lots of fresh herbs including mint. I believe the style of food was more fusion than traditional Vietnamese but this didn't make it any less enjoyable. Good service from the staff and an enjoyable evening. View menu

My wife and I have been in France for vowel two months and have generally found that restaurants do not always use fresh products. New Saigon certainly did not fit that assumption. We went for lunch on a Wednesday, based in Trip Advisor reviews, and had a set lunch. Wow, what a pleasant surprise! Fresh, tasty, well prepared and presented food with quality we have not found at the prices in France. We were so impressed we went back the following Saturday and ordered off the menu as the set lunch is only through the week. A great duck breast with a wonderful sauce, noodles and rice. The front of house is the son of the two chefs in the kitchen. A real family affair to be very proud of.

Searching through Trip Advisor for somewhere to eat in Perpignan I was attracted by the positive reviews. On entering the restaurant at a little after midday I asked the waiter why the place was empty to which he informed me that it was a place where people came to eat in the evenings. I can only assume that this was the reason that I was served dishes that had obviously been reheated. Perhaps the chef was away and the waiter was doubling up and multi-tasking as I cannot believe that the food I was served would have been given such glowing reports by other customers. After all the sunshine and the pleasant ambiance of the town cannot compensate for poor quality food served in an eerily quiet...
