"I have reviewed this place on behalf of my wife for reasons that will become obvious. It 's a very nice place and I am guessing by our visit usually very popular. There is a clue in its name, as apart from a vegetarian burger and kids menu, they don 't do much else than fish. Even then the fish choice is rather limited. Unfortunately unlike the vast majority of their customers, I don 't eat fish and had the vege burger. The wife used to own chip shops, and knows a thing or two. She very highly rated the fish but the chips were very dry and quite unappetising, and there were too many of them. Not just us? We did notice quite a lot being left by other diners. We thought the sides of mushy peas and curry sauce etc were quite expensive for what they were. My burger was a bit mushy but it was OK. We did mention our concerns to our waitress but apart from an apology she didn 't offer anything further. Nice choice of drinks."

we fancied having proper Fish and Chips and were very pleased. Freshly cooked for us, excellent Cod for my wife, glorious piece of Haddock for me and terrific chips which were crispy. Highly recommend.

Just had a fantastic lunch here, great table service and atmosphere, owners were very friendly and happy to chat. Our meal, chowder followed by fresh Hake with mussels was to die for. Thanks for a great lunch.

This isn't just your run if the mill chippy. It's a great restaurant that serves incredibly fresh fish with a smile. We've been here three days out of seven. We tried the others; rockfish twice and some others. They didnt come close... Fantastic service thank you to all the staff for the hard work.

Super restaurant. Probably one of the best cod and chips that I have had for years. A really nice place. A bit pricey but you really do get great quality food so why not great yourself. Very attentive staff offering great service. 10% service charge already included in bill. They have a takeaway part too

We had just arrived in Brixham this was the first fish chip shop we found open! The lady in the shop was not very friendly at all despite the shop being empty. I was told to wait outside in a very rude...manner!! Fish chips were not that good either. Such a shame this was what we experienced on arrival to beautiful Brixham. I have to say all the other restaurants people we have since met have been super friendly kind. Don’t go to Nicks !!

came on the afternoon and the restaurant looked empty, went in and was offered every table, within ten minutes of us sitting down the place filled. so good timing. ordered fish of the day (hake) and the fish cake with a glass wine. the fish cake was filled with mush, garnel and smoked salmon, a mossus with a kind of crust, and a crispy carrot broccoli and braided comminuted cauliflower. I enjoyed this meal. the hake was perfectly cooked and more chips than we could eat.

I recommend to everyone to keep one table per day or two, as it can be extremely busy. if they are lucky, they may be able to book the same day. At any rate, all staff members were extremely attentive and friendly. the atmosphere was jovial and warm, served freshly with the foods. the three of us ordered a selection of appetizers, where the oysters were so delicious, we ordered another teller. for all we ordered lobster and chips, and some fish of the day (haaddock) and chips. it was served hot and fresh. They can say that eating is not frozen and is caught on the same day. if they love seafood, then it's just fish for them. they pay you a visit, because they won't regret it.

"From the off, everything was bang on point. The warmth of the welcome, being taken straight to our table and offered water and an aperitif promptly. We, a party of three, opted for the set lunch, which offers very good value for money. £29.50 for two courses, £35 for three, with two options for each course. Two of us opted for the baked Roscoff onion with pearl barley. Simple ingredients but beautifully cooked with a truly sublime brown onion sauce of such intensity, it lifted an already lovely plate of food to another level. The other person had the ponzu cured mackerel which she pronounced lovely but she had serious food envy over the onion dish. The main courses were grilled hake, which again was sauced to perfection and a grilled bavette with a vegetable medley and a pea? puree and a meat jus. We added a small dish of dauphinois at £5 which complimented everything very well. We drank a good and reasonably priced Rioja Blanco. No room for dessert sadly. This restaurant is not cheap but there is a difference between cost and value and The Elephant offers very good value with the set lunch; it allows you to sample really very good cooking at a price that will not break the bank. The normal a la carte menu is around double the price but on looking at what this offered, I would say that it again offers good value for money, being a step up in choice with more expensive ingredients. This is a serious restaurant. Go there. You will not be disappointed."
