"Arriving in Trier after a long train journey and well after lunchtime, we were happy to find a branch of fish restaurants chain Nordsee on Simeonstrasse, close to the main plaza (‘Hauptmarkt’). They sell fish sandwiches, but always have a few affordable mains, advertised in pictures behind the counter. As the baked fish and the side dishes are displayed behind glass, we generally choose what looks best. This time we had one of their classics, Alaska pollack with potato salad and tartar sauce, and it was good value for money. There is no table service at Nordsee. You order and pay at the counter and take your food on a plate to a table. The place looks more like a canteen than a restaurant. As we didn't plan to linger, we didn’t mind. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday from 9.30 am till 7.30 pm and till 6 pm on Saturday. On Sunday it is open from noon to 4 pm."
