"I contacted Not So Secret Suppers asking for their supper club dates in November with a view to booking for my 50th birthday and they very kindly offered me their home and expertise for a private dining experience just for me and my guests. We started cocktails on the beach while we watched the firework display which helped make it a truly memorable evening. My guests had a choice of dishes for each course, and I had great fun choosing the selections from their extensive range. The food was fabulous, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals prepared and served by the singing chef (who even personalised the lyrics of the songs he was singing) and his lovely wife whose specialty dish was the roast potatoes. With my friends surprise invasion to make it a themed dinner party it really was the perfect celebration."

Absolutely fabulous time, booked private party for 12 , all unsure of where we were going. So funny seeing their faces going in the back entrance past the bins. They were bold over with the cuisine, and loved Jon singing. Jo was the perfect host. Watch out we will return !!!!

A really enjoyable evening in an eclectic mix of people. Jon and Jo made us feel welcome in their home, delicious food accompanied by delightful singing! We were greeted by cocktails then moved on to a three course meal with additional treats. A donation was made to a very worthy local charity fir homeless people. A misy relaxing way to start the bank holiday weekend. Thank you both very much!

Jon and his team catered for a family birthday celebration on Christmas Eve in Brooklands Barn where we were staying for Christmas. The whole experience was magical. The team arrived on time, calmly prepared the food and served it with a friendly professionalism. Everything was exactly as promised, with the additional magic of Jon singing as he cooked wonderful. And they cleared up afterwards! Would recommend them any time. View menu

Where do I start location brilliant, lovely home being shared with strangers that so quickly become friends. The food is the best I 've had full of flavor fresh and beautifully presented. Short while into the evening I thought 'I 'm sure I read the chef sings. Hopefully he 'll start soon. The I notice the chef walk pass the kitchen door and realized the album I was listening too was a backing track with him singing while cooking. What a brilliant touch to a brilliant evening. The whole group said we would look at going back very soon. You must try this it is brilliant

This was our first visit to Not So Secret Suppers. We met six others, and fortunately they were a similar age to ourselves plus 10 minus 20. The conversation was good, the food was excellent. For the starter I had Scotch quails eggs, done to perfection, the meat casing was perfectly cooked through and the egg was beautifully soft. My main of Pork tenderloin with parsnip puree, was perfection, very tender and juicy. The desert of Rhubarb meringue was a lovely counter to the main with a delicious tarte rhubarb and sweet custard home made of course). A very pleasant evening all round.

We were all excited to get together after many years but it was not what we had hoped for. Access is difficult even in daylight with several uneven steps both outside and inside the premises. The food was uninspiring especially the main course. Overcooked green beans, boiled rounds of carrots, some new potatoes cooked in the oven served on the table in dreary pyrex dishes, to accompany swordfish with no sauce or boiled pork someone said it was like a school dinner. Four of the twelve of us were sitting on fold up chairs with a cushion. Very disappointing. The Chef should stick to singing. View menu

Really well looked after from first to last. Starting with an interesting little canapé to go with my introduction Moscow Mule nice kick there folks! And on through numerous courses to coffee and desert wine. The setting is particular interesting. Modern, beautifully furnished, and decorated with the works of local artists. And so welcoming. And the singing. I hadn 't realised just how talented Jon was. Listening to the background vocals, thinking 'Johnny Mathis or Burt Bacharach ' on the turntable, turns out to be our host. And the company. Maybe we were all just lucky that night, but a more interesting group of strangers I have yet to find. Well done both of you.

Two of us booked ourselves not having experienced before this kind of set up. You pre-select the dishes you want from the menu and pay a deposit on line. On arrival we were served a cocktail and introduced ourselves to the other diners (maximum of 12). We all shared a rectangular table which made difficult to talk to the people at the other end. Every course was delicious and we could not fault any of it. However, although we got on well with the other diners, by 10 o'clock we were ready to leave. However we thought it might be considered rude so we waited a little longer. We would much prefer to sit on our own, but we appreciate this is not part of the experience. My rate is based on the fo...

"I would first like to start out by saying that this is a gorgeous little cafe, with very friendly staff and great options for everyone. I have been eating at The Orchard for a couple of years, and have loved it. I am plant based, and have always found their vegan options to be brilliant! However, last week I accidentally ate meat for the first time in 6 years due to fault of the chef. Twice in a row, I have visited and ordered a vegan) seitan Reuben sandwich, and have been served the real meat version instead, which I believe contains corned beef traditionally. Luckily for me, the first time this happened, the waitress noticed before I could even eat any, and they replaced it quickly. I understand these things do happen, and am a big believer in second chances, so I went back recently. I ordered the same sandwich, and took 3 mouthfuls before realising something tasted unfamiliar, so I checked inside and found real meat. I was devastated when I realised, and so was the waitress and manager. The manager refunded our total bill, and was incredibly apologetic and mortified that it had happened. I know this wasn't any fault of the front of house staff they listened carefully. I feel like I can't go back, unfortunately, as I can't risk eating meat again. And I'm really sad that's the case, because this was one of my favourite spots to eat and I'll miss it so, so much!! I hate to rate a small business poorly, but I really felt I needed to warn any non meat eaters, as I can only imagine how much more devastating it would be if this happened to someone that gave up meat for religious or allergy reasons. If you eat meat then there's no need to worry, as this place is fantastic otherwise. If the cafe replaces their chef then I would love to come back one day... :"
