"On arrival, it was quite clear that the hotel was quite dated and the room had partly been updated but there are was a foisty, damp-like odour. Conti-board panelling was all around the walls in one half of the room, the bathroom and the corridor outside the room, probably hiding plumbing. Worn conti-board and cheap office-like carpet in the corridors and dark wood doors and furniture everywhere made for a dated look. The food at dinner and breakfast was of a high standard. £140 for room B&B was a high price for a room and hotel of this standard."

Being a local always disappointed with the welcome we get at this place. Regimental chap behind bar with shaved head not friendly and inhospitable. Just disappointing.

Five in the party and we all enjoyed starters, mains and deserts. We had the pate , halloumi salad; beef pie, lamb ; pork belly and upsized children’s meal. Deserts were great too!Delicious! Will definitely be back.

Went for dinner with friends was one of the nicest meals I have had for a while. All four of us thought our food was delicious, ever course including the beer. Good value, generous portions and friendly service. Definitely will be going back. Thank you View menu

Wow, we called in for an impromptu meal, the staff where very accommodating and helpful. Lovely menu with lots of local produce. I choose a fish dish, as did my partner. And I can honestly say it was one of the nicest meals I've ever had, so fresh, perfectly made, with incredible flavours. Can't wait to go back. Well done

The staff were welcoming and informative. Promoted local fayre and happy to flex the menu to suit intolerances. The seam bream was cooked to perfection, still on the bone and served with some of the tastiest dauphinoise potatoes I've ever eaten. The burger was moist and tasty. All in all an absolute gem of a spot to eat. Thank you. A credit to the UK hospitality industry.

Sadly I have to dine alone these days. The young staff were so very helpful and welcoming. Unfortunately the meal let the establishment down badly. I chose Beef Bourguinon a favourite of mine. Takes hours of slow cooking but there was no slow cooking about my meal. The beef was so tough it was inedible by any standards! So although I paid the full price I left having eaten nothing. Beware! Following a friend's recommendation, my wife and I booked Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Decided not to have a starter because the desserts looked scrummy. Both the shoulder of lamb and belly of pork were cooked to perfection, accompanied by delicious vegetables including leeks with a blue cheese crumb topping. We then shared a rhubarb creme brulee which was truly scrummy. The service was efficient and friendly and we will definitely return.

Just stopped in on Friday for a quick bite to eat, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. We’ve had a lot of fish this weekend, but the cod and chips from here were the best by far. The batter is almost like a chicken buttermilk style batter, really crunchy and tasty! My partner had a side of fresh fish which was also fantastic. Very large portions so sadly we couldn’t finish but we wish we could have! Great beer on tap and a lovely pub vibe. Absolutely would recommend to anyone visiting the area
