"Visited here the other night have eaten before and its been okay usually just pop in for a drink whilst in the town for a takeaway. Thought we may aswell sit outside and have a meal whilst the weather was nice . My partner had the scampi and fries (can 't really go wrong with frozen scampi and frozen fries not a complaint about that but my meal was just shocking. I 've been a chef since school and I 'm unsure what the chef was thinking but I ordered chicken parmigiana and it came out as a dry chicken breast (not breaded with some chopped tinned tomatoes on top and abit of half melted cheese I cut into it and didn 't even bother trying it it looked revolting and didn 't smell nice at all . I did eat the fries they were ok . Staff never checked back so we just left and ended up getting myself some food at the co op . Shame really."

Yummy lunch. Delicious homemade chips! Huge portion. Very friendly welcoming to dogs! The fire was a great touch too on a chilly day! :

I had a great meal at this restaurant! I stopped in for lunch while passing by and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious and fresh food. The fish and chips and lasagne were both fantastic. The staff was also very friendly.

Had a great lunch here on a Sunday. Went for the hot beef sandwich with roasties. Delicious. Beef, cooked overnight, was tender. Thoroughly recommend. Sunday lunches also looked great. Our meal was far superior to our evening meal at the Black Bull in Nateby

The family run Pennine Hotel is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Shelley and team were so attentive and went out of their way to be helpful. Best breakfast we’ve had in the UK. Gorgeous rooms. I have visited this restaurant numerous times while on the way to other places. I have always received incredibly friendly service and been able to grab a bite to eat. However, this time was different. It was 11:20 and we were informed that nothing would be available until 12. They used to offer cakes before lunchtime. The staff seemed rather unfriendly. We did not feel welcomed at all. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Additionally, the coffee was quite pricey at £3.50 per cup.

Wasn’t really inspired by the menu but went in because it was the only place we could find that allowed dogs on a Sunday. Quite a disorganised place. They forgot the peas on the kids fish and chips and also the garlic bread on the kids macaroni cheese. I ordered the macaroni for my daughter but she wouldn’t eat it. I tried it and it was disgusting, tasted of dry and just of garlic. I don’t think I’ve ever had a worse meal out. I told the lady who served us and she told her boss who wasn’t interested. We also had a soup which wasn’t nice either. I’d avoid this place. I think the chef needs to get a macaroni cheese recipe and the boss needs a lesson in customer service.

I travelled from Leeds, on Sunday 2nd April, to meet my sister mum from Cumbria at a halfway location and we decided upon Kirkby Stephen. We googled the pubs in town and chose The Pennine Hotel Bistro. It turned out to be a perfect choice. We had a lovely window seat and had Sunday lunch. What am amazing meal!! It was outstanding. Both my sister and I chose the roast beef . It was served with 2 huge, thick slices of beef which just melted in your mouth, accompanied with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, parsnips, broccoli and cauliflower cheese. Such a generous portion. Amazing quality and value!!! It was so delicious. Infact I would give it a score of 10 i...
