"This is one of my favourite places in the area for, if I get up early enough...Breakfast but for the sake of this review let's call it Brunch give and take a few hours ;D. Situated at the crossroads of Kyffhäuserstrasse and Barbarossastrasse, (not so far from Eisenacherstrasse U-Bahn this café is a firm favourite amongst locals. I once spent an entire Sunday here with friends, starting with early brunch... then afternoon tea, followed by dinner and drinks whilst playing Skat the entire time! Primarily noted for its extensive breakfast menu which includes the likes of the: Phoenix Schlemmer, New York Bagel, English and Kapstadt breakfasts to mention but a few (See attached photos ... this place also offers a good range of daily specials to supplement its standard menu, which features such items as spätzle , maltaschen, toasted sandwiches, soups, salads, and schnitzel. The food is generally good. Though I have to admit, once about a year ago (sure call me food nerd! , my Käsespätzle was a wee bit greasy which was a surprise considering it's one of my comfort food orders at this place. Other than that I can honestly say I've always had good food for a reasonable price, not to mention the portions are quite generous too. Service is fast and friendly. This place is also blessed with rays of sunshine après midi, so it's great to sit outside and have an afternoon drink... and perhaps a slice of cake, I forgot to mention that I'm also a complete sucker for the Meringue Cheesecake."

the opposite is beautiful. we were already familiar with it. but the poenix lounge, which remains a relaxed place, did not live our expectations this time: eating was halfway decent and greasy. the prices are ok.

Average food, decent service. A 3 star venue in an area surrounded by 4 star cafes (see Gott Lob close by). They are marked down by charging almost 10euros for 2 waters. For Berlin, that's I extortionate. Shame on you.

This was our first food stop in Berlin and things got interesting when we didn't speak much German. The bartender/server didn't speak any English at all but this made things interesting in a good way. We used good translate to figure out the menu and placed our order. The beers here were really good and some of the best I have ever tasted.

it is a good place to have a late huge breakfast after they were in the night before. they have a large selection of different breakfast, salad, suppe and main dishes, a mix of European and American elements. also look at the days, at the board at the entrance and behind the bar. friendly service, but some waiting time when it crowds. in the warmer season it is nice to sit outside and enjoy a light salad or coffee and cake.
