"Al Forno has amazing food - from their pasta to their made-where-you-can-watch wood burning brick oven pizza!! Overall, the favorite Italian restaurant of my family and friends when they visit us in Esslingen. The only problem - the service is not so great...some days they are friendly and there in a reasonable time - other days, they seem to debate for 15 minutes whether they want to take your order at all. I have a hard time with that. Their prices at lunch for one of their 4 lunch specials are great (7 Euro), but any other item ordered incurs an additional 3-4 Euro for the small lettuce salad and the prices are somewhat high compared to other Italian restaurants in town. They do have sidewalk tables to sit at almost year-round and from March - October, there is a very nice ice cream store next door that also has outside tables (not sure if they will take your order at the pizza tables, but it's worth a try)."

The pizza comes from a wood burning oven and not over or under cooked. Be wary of peppers put on most pizzas, but can be taken off. Great food, good prices, no limocella for a chaser.

I went with my family to eat in this restaurant, the staff were very helpful, the service was fast, and the food was very close to Italian food, Pasta and Pizza are great. Prices are very cheap

We sat outside in the heart of Esslingen to eat lunch. Lunch specials are listed on the board and excellent menu to choose from. Food was good, wait staff was patient with our bad German, and food was served quickly.

We chose the place on Sunday late afternoon as this was one of few places open at 3pm . Good pizza, pasta at reasonable prices. Average service: u need to ask separately for parmesan for pasta, oil for pizza. I would go there again!

One of the oldest pizzerias in Esslingen. That's the best pizza in the circle. They traditionally bake with a wood stove. The ingredients are always fresh and cost-effective completely ok. The staff on site is always very friendly and accommodating. Very good pizza that is high quality.

They do not accept credit cards. Moreover, while we were still having the drinks and waiting for the pizzas, a more comfortable table, farther from the corridor, was freed. I politely asked the waiter whether we could move and he just said a short and sharp "nein". I still do not understand why.

Al Forno is the real deal! They make their pizzas in the open where you can watch them and then slide the pizza into their brick oven. Great prices at lunch! Dinner prices are average. Great sidewalk cafe tables to sit at with a fabulous ice cream store next door which will serve you dessert at the same table you just had dinner. Bahnhofstraße 2473728 Esslingen am Neckar, Germany

I've never been so haunted by a pizza service. I wanted a pizza with onions, pepperoni, ham and a bottle of good wine. The Pizzaria told me that it was approx. 27 € would cost. I promised that I had $32 in my stock exchange. When the delivery service came, he told me it was far beyond. He wants 20 € for the bottle of wine (Primitivo Puglia). According to HAWESKO, the profit costs €6.99. The pizza did not taste as usual. I'm sorry, I come from the deepest Bavaria (Prien am Chiemsee) but I didn't even get a pizza from my wife's bakery. I think a bakery should be banned. I'm really sorry. But that's not the way. Extremely overpriced and in no way tasty.
