"Having looked at this restaurant several times, including when it was called something else and not owned by the Intermarché supermarket group as far as I can remember, we decided to give it a try at long last. Primarily out of interest but also because we are becoming increasing disillusioned by the restaurant at the Campanile hotel over the road.O.K. it worked out, I think, a bit more expensive than the Campanile but to be fair that was partly our fault because a) we chose to eat at the Poivre Rouge and therefore forego our 15% discount for having a room at the Premiere Classe & b) because we chose a couple of extras to the basic buffet/main course menu. The staff were very welcoming and, a bonus for some I suppose, spoke excellent English. The buffet selection was relatively limited but there was still a more than adequate choice and, here's the rub, was far better than what is now being served across the road. Main courses were excellent, my full duck breast in particular, and my wife's steak was cooked "a point" to perfection, O.K. the extra side dishes we ordered were a tad disappointing, my piperade wasn't anywhere near as good as I've had in a restaurant in Biarritz and my wife's side salad was basically just a few lettuce leaves. "Could do better" would be the comment on that score but after about 10hrs. driving from the Limousin we weren't going to complain! One thing we did miss in relation to the Campanile, apart from the 15% off the bill!, was the fact that there was no buffet pud offering as we normally go for the buffet starter, main course, buffet pud fixed price menu there and to be fair to the Louvre Hotels group that buffet, despite being bought in "sample size" desserts is rather good as the selection is so varied that there must be something to suit everyone on display. The wine was a tad more expensive than at the Campanile, there's no monthly promotion for example & I can't remember what was on offer as regards a house wine carafe. We went for the old faithful of Cotes du Rhone and had no complaint as to the price or quality of that. All in all a good alternative to the Campanile, if you don't mind sacrificing your 15% dicount if staying at the Premiere Classe, and well worth using if staying at the Kyriad next door - although to get there may still be a bit of a walk, especially if the weather isn't being kind. At least there's no main road to cross as there is from the Premiere Classe & Campanile!"

Very nice staff, very clean. Very well placed compared to the exit of the highway. Quality products with a good choice. Especially this cracked ****. It's a shame that with the sanitary conditions, there's no longer this cold buffet. I've been here for years and I'm going on.

We stopped at the Poivre Rouge on our way to get the car ferry from Dunkerque. The first lady that greeted us was not really very friendly, but she didn't seem to speak English so that might have been why. Our waitress, Emilia, was lovely and very attentive! The service was fast and friendly. Unfortunately, there is very little on the menu for vegetarians - I had the salad plate as this was one of the only options (the other was a goat's cheese toast) but then found that almost all of the salads on the salad bar actually contained fish or meat, so this was disappointing. Lots of the salads were pickled or very mayonnaise-heavy, so I'd probably recommend having it as a side or starter rather...
