"A group of nine of us visited that night for dinner, and enjoyed some really good homely Polish food. Ham hocks we’re tender and tasty, also huge but they were happy to pack a doggy bag for you to take away. Dumplings also fresh and tasty, again large portions but you can ask for a half portion. I didn’t tase the pork neck, but it was a hit with one of our party and she cleaned her plate. Most of us had a dessert, baked cheesecake with a toasted coconut topping was gorgeous, pancakes stuffed with apple were also good was told by the 3 that had them. Staff very lovely and friendly, maybe a little slow to clear the table and offer more drinks, but this is a small very laid back family place, so it didn’t worry us. Spotlessly clean and rustic decoration, so all in all a really enjoyable evening, and very reasonable price, we will all be eating here regularly form now on."

My husband and I came in for dinner. The menu is pleasantly simple and staff are solicitous. Location and atmosphere are accessible and pleasant. Our mains were lovely, the dessert left a little to be desired, hence 4/5. Would come back for sure.

Have never tried Polish Cuisine, what have I been missing! Lovely fresh food, it came to the table hot and there was plenty of it. The setting is very pleasant, the service is not rushed, giving a totally relaxed experience. Will definitely be going again. There was six of us dining, we all had a main meal and with drinks , Beer and Wine) the bill came to £78.

The restaurant is clean and brightly decorated with a little background music.Toilets are clean but there are two steps for anyone with walking difficulties. The dishes are mainly pork with the odd chicken dish. The portions are huge so make sure you are hungry! If you have a small appetite you can ask for a half portion. Prices are very reasonable and they have a children 's menu of chicken nuggets or fish fingers with chips. Drinks menu is basic, beer or red/white wine and soft drinks. For smokers there is a covered outside area. Staff are pleasant and are happy to give you a 'doggy bag ' for leftovers. We will visit again.

We went to Polka twice last week, and were very impressed: the Bigos (meat and sauerkraut stew) was very tasty, there wasn't anything vinegary about it at all. The dumplings (Pierogi) were very filling, and the pork neck (Karkowka) was very good too. Portions are huge, and value is very good on both occasions our bill for two meals, a bottle of wine and some water, was around thirty pounds. Much is made of the cultural change in England over the last few decades, this restaurant shows that those coming from Poland have something special by way of cuisine they can share with us. If in the area again we'll be very happy to go back and, indeed, to try Polish cuisine elsewhere: I may even try to...

"We've been here a couple of times before and it's been great, however our latest visit was not a great experience. Portions were small, presentation wasn't anything special, looked like meals I could of in nocked up myself as a quick tea at home, nothing special at all, certainly didn't look like a restaurant dining experience. Also, never come across a restaurant that stipulates on the menu if you want steak they need 48 hours notice! And even if they do, they should tell people when they book in as we had 2 of our party very disappointed on the night. The whole dining experience was also ruined by a group of loud, drunk locals sitting in the dining area and talking and swearing at the top of their voices so we couldn't even hear ourselves having a conversation. If people have paid for a dining experience no matter how bad that was, they should not have to put up with a table full of loud, swearing locals who were just there for the drink, keep the two things separate! Really dark and dingy in the restaurant, we struggled to read the menu due to how badly lit it was. The waitress started the evening by telling us what wasn't available off the menu, which in itself seemed odd at the beginning of the weekend to of already run out of so much. Needless to say this one bad experience overshadows previous good ones, it looks like the place has gone down hill, we won't be back! Must say though this is by no means a reflection of the staff they were lovely, it's on the owners!"
