"I 've had some bad Chineses in the past and frankly the three in eg are hit and miss TBH, OK but not great, so we thought we would look a little further a field.Normally going to golden city in Crawley as always top notch but couldn 't be bothered to go so far big mistake Forest Row we thought close enough, Goog reviews looked not too bad, 'but are not to be trusted ',one read consistently good so we thought we would give it a go. Wow, I can 't explain how bad it was.. I will try and attach a picture but the smell can 't be attached. rancid.. The food looked awful noodles black where the oil had clearly been burnt or maybe there pans are just filthy. The crispy shredded beef was burnt had spring onions and carrots that looked like they were prepared 3 days ago mank and discoloured.. Sweet and sour chicken looked darker then normal! Again can only assume the battered chicken were cooked/fried in filthy old oil. I always give food a go and dont dismiss it without trying it we all know looks can be deceiving but boy I wish I didn 't, I tried a bit of everything before I realised the smell wasn 't some new kinds of spices and was just plain rank, I had to be sick virtually straight after, I have the worst taste in my mouth that won 't go and I 've spent £30 for the pleasure.. NEVER AGAIN.. IGNORE THIS AT YOUR PERIL. The pictures probably won 't do it justice but trust me just awful! Anyone who likes this place doesn 't know what a good Chinese should be like."

Great variety and good value. Group of 5 had set menu C with an extra dish of quick fried prawns, all dishes were really tasty.

We had a good takeaway from Prosperity. Delicious ribs, yummy scallops and fluffy rice. Nice spring rolls and great fortune cookies!

Amazing!! Food, literally the nicest, freshest Chinese I’ve had in Sussex. Been several times now and it’s just as amazing every time. Also very friendly and great atmosphere View menu

A friend of mine and I decided to renew our visits to the Prosperity following the easing of the covid lockdown. The service was excellent, the staff friendly and the food first rate and all at a reasonable price. We will be returning very soon..

This is easily the best Chinese restaurant in Sussex. The food is incredibly delicious and a must-try if you enjoy good food and great service. The prices are very reasonable. I have tried many places but after eating here, I would never go anywhere else.

Met a friend for lunch and post Christmas catch up. Booked table fir 12.30, ordered half aromatic duck which was ok but nearly cold. Then was told kitchen closed at 1.30...lemon chicken was slimey, as were the noodles and the rest was just not good! Won't be going back. View menu

The food at this restaurant was great, but I recently had an awful experience with their takeout. The food was old, cold, and inedible. None of it tasted fresh. The crispy lamb and smoked shredded chicken were both tough and chewy. I spent £30 on this disappointing meal and won't be ordering from this restaurant again. Very disappointed.

We recently moved to Coleman's Hatch and tried out this Chinese restaurant, which is the closest one to us. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with our meal. The rice seemed like it had been sitting out all day and was not freshly cooked. The chicken dishes were dry and overcooked, and the Kung Po chicken lacked any spice. The Sweet and Sour dishes were average and also on the dry side. The Sweet and Sour King Prawns were the best dish, with perfectly cooked prawns. The Sesame Prawn toast looked unappetizing, as if it had been deep fried carelessly. The Special Fried Rice had good flavor, but suffered from the same issue of tired rice. The Filet Steak Cantonese Style was also overcook...

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"

"We had a voucher for a sparkling tea. Reassured by their website that pronounced their covid measurs were above government guidelines I allayed my 93 year olds Mums fear about going. We were able to sit outside which was of much covid reassurance to Mum...And all was well in this wonderful place which Mum pronounced to be 'the real macoy '...they even catered very impressively for my vegan diet...all was well until we paid in the reception lounge. Mum had thought we would not need to hand over our gift card as they had already got our details when we booked on the phone, but not so...she wore her mask, I was lulled into a false sense of security and destracted that Mums very poor hearing meant she had not heard and was about to walk out the door in her unstable on her feet way, as I handed the voucher over minus my mask to the unmasked young man. Mum observed no one in the lounge was wearing a mask, and the young man got very close to me. I do think this is indefensible. Today the government has changed their rules so today they would all have to be wearing their masks, but surely it 's good sense. On reflection I noted our two waitresses were walking pretty close to ' each other too. Most of the clientele seemed to be over 60...surely they have a duty of care. When i check trip advisor for much humbler eating places, alot have staff wearing masks before the government told them they must...WHY NOT HERE!? I did phone them today..I was told staff do get a temperature screen every day ...but that is only an indication. I was impressed they had hands free alcohol gel dispensers, they took our details, wiped our tables and others every hour and after someone has dined. Its a wonderful place which has let itself down."
