Ramblers Coffee Shop

Asked for mug of coffee got a cup, asked for seeded bacon roll got a white roll, asked for a custard cream to share never received it! Bacon burnt, brown sauce tasted of aniseed? Service terrible.

Shambolic. No system for managing queue. 45 minute wait for basic lunch. People who arrived after us finished their food before our order taken. Disappointing experience. Gritty soup, bread dry on one side with crumbs of cheese on it from worktop or someone else’s meal.? Won’t give it another chance.

Popped in for takeaway. Eventually served by flapping untrained staff member. Overpriced microwaved scone was a disappointment and the ‘butter’ I had to ask for was margarine or some other type of cheap spread scooped from a container into a paper pot which melted all over the bag. Will definitely give this a miss in future.

Overworked waitress. “All day menu” unavailable ….all gone at 1pm. My choice from the main menu turned out to be the worst Mac and Cheese ever. Inedible. Swimming in grease. After a dispute at the till, the cost of the meal (which was left uneaten) was dropped and I only paid for my pot of tea. “Well you got your free WiFi…..” was the waitress’ parting shot. This used to be a good cafe, back in the day. There are many good local alternatives. Avoid this one.

Arrived here at 11.30 on Monday 11th September after travelling from Cumbria for a 3 day break in Peebles. We were both very hungry as we didn't have breakfast before leaving home some 3 hours earlier we decided to eat here, both had cooked breakfast which was delicious, hot filling with toast drinks very reasonable priced too. Only disappointment was that they didn't have any pancakes which I'd been looking forward to trying but we still both left satisfied with the food we had

Front of house needs training on hygiene standards. Table washed with a dirty tea towel only half table cleaned. Dirty cutlery cleaned with steam from coffee machine wiped dry with the same dirty cloth. Glass for drinks still had dishwasher detergent on them. Waitress smelt strongly of stale alcohol felt she was still intoxicated. Toasties ok, although cranberry would have been at home in a volcano! Carrot coriander soup tasteless. Peebles is lovely with some fabulous eateries, this isn't one of them. I don't often comment but I could not recommend this establishment.

Avoid !!!!!!! , really dissapppoiinted in the quality of the food and drinks . We had just arrived in Pebbles and instead of going to a chain i.e. Costa or Greggs my husband and I wanted to give the independent eateries some custom. Worst flat white I have ever had , it came in a very large mug, uunfortunately tasted nothing like a flat white. My husband ordered a cappuccino, again tasteless. My breakfast order was wrong and unfortunately they didnt have something I asked for on menu. They did apologise but was dissapppoiinted in the over all experience. Ended up going to Greggs !!!!!

Stopped here for lunch in Peebles after having visited once before. They have quite a nice menu but the service let it down. We asked for another couple of minutes to decide on our food when the waitress came over at first but then they didn’t come back for another 10. Food came to the table after about a 25 minute wait but there was no cutlery so we had to wait another several minutes for that. Flat whites were brought to the table but were spilled all over their saucers by the time they were put down. We drove 40 miles across country with the intent of enjoying brunch in Peebles. I can't comment on the food as we didn't have any. We were surprised to find the cafe nearly empty at 12.30 on a Saturday. We thought the menus were a bit tatty and as we waited for service I noticed dirty paper napkins under several tables. I also noticed a customer (waiting for service wiping her table. We waited and waited as the young waitress wandered past our table. A few more people arrived and eventually got served before us.
