"Winterhude is one of Hamburg's most charming, elegant, and simply delightful neighborhoods, especially during the long days of summer. The choice of restaurants is plentiful along with winebars, cafes etc. Ristorante Salentino has all the charm of a fine, neighborhood eatery. One sensed the conviviality...that comes with happy and regular patrons on entering the restaurant. The decor is simple but this adds to the pleasant atmosphere. I must admit that what drew my wife and I to the restaurant was the offer of a Rosso di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri, our favorite Brunello vineyard in Tuscany; that and its location down the street from where we were staying. We were disappointed that the wine was not to be had; the waitress suggested a Nippozano Chianti Classico Riserva, which turned out to be more than acceptable and was a nice accompaniment to our meal. I selected the Filetto alla griglia: I asked for the meat to be done rare and was rewarded with a perfectly cooked steak accompanied by delicious vegetables and potatos served in a brown sauce which happily did not overwhelm the meat. My wife chose lamb with rosemary also rare equally delicious. We didn't have desert or coffee as the main courses were more than sufficient. Our bill was Eu81, not bad for this neighborhood and I think we will go back."

Hamburg, a port city in northern Germany, is known for its maritime heritage, vibrant culture, and local dishes like Fischbrötchen and Labskaus. It's a blend of old charm and modern vibe.
