"Arrived on the ferry mid-morning, thirsty and found this spotless cafe on seafront within minutes. We went inside and enjoyed a lovely coffee and homemade cake. The two middle-aged women were friendly and attentive and the service fine. A positive point was that there were several regular locals eating a generous breakfast. Went to the toilets before leaving, which were spotless. Sanitary operations were observed. The already smart outside was being being refreshed by painters as we left. We regretted, being holidamakers, and not likely to visit the place again."

A busy cafe by the water: the staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty and cooked to order. Will definitely be back.

Good to see it 're opened. Full breakfast highly recommended. Plenty of outside seating. Take away hatch often has a queue proving how popular it is.

Owners have retired and the venue us now up for sale. It's a prime location and if The Dunoon Project takes off this place could be a real opportunity for someone. View menu

I came hungry, I ordered coffee and a speckrolle with brown sauce, of course I dedicated you to the most perfect speckrolle I can remember. Normally, this is simply evil nonsense served as a food to not go here. perfection on a plate. cannot recommend this caffe enough, although they were busy, I was served quickly and nothing was too much troubled. card payment was not a problem, either my guilty pleasure on the water

I used to love going here for their lovely thick milkshakes. The last 3 I have had have been a let down. I put it down to different staff making them! But they all seem the same. The milk shakes are not very cold at all, it is as if they are leaving the milk sitting out of the fridge and they are not as thick as they used to be, I have found then to be very thin and watery looking! It is as if they have cut down on the amount of ice cream they put in them now. Food is still very nice but milkshakes are just like watery flavoured milk

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
