"What a delightful surprise this place was! We were very warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable here and safe too with the pandemic measures they have still adopted here. especially with little touches like hand sanitiser on the tables! Fab idea! We hadn’t decided where to eat but seeing a full menu was being served, we opted for the two prawn starters and a steak for main. The food was outstanding and I highly recommend the beer battered prawns and chilli sauce! The portions were generous and the quality was so good, and the value for money was unbelievable for a town in Cambridgeshire! I genuinely cannot recommend this place highly enough, I’m glad it’s not been a victim of the pandemic and I think it’ll be firmly on my to do list every time I visit Huntington. Thanks for a wonderful evening and good luck in the future to all your staff We will see you soon"

Louise the opening manager is fantastic. The pub is back to how it should be . Great price on a pint . I’m so happy it’s back to its former glory

This restaurant is very elegant, with excellent service and truly delicious food. The Birra Moretti on tap is top-notch. We will definitely return!

Good covid measures in place and an excellent Black Sheep on draught. I sat in the outside space which was quite pleasant in the late afternoon sun.

Came upon this Gem of a Pub, Samuel Pypes, on our walk to Castle Hill River in Huntingdon. Stopped for lunch, had a large covered garden area, good selection on menu with a wide choice for Vegetarians/Vegans. Food service was excellent. Prices very reasonable.

So after ordering 2 beers at the bar the bar man who looked drugged up to the eye balls said he didn’t have any change yet and to come back later . No less then 5 minutes later he was pumping the £10 note I gave him into the fruit machine. The place is a rotten seedy drug den down . Such a shame as it used to be a superb pub . AVOID AVOID AVOID

The staff claimed to know nothing of the booking, but it was quiet anyway so no harm done. Unfortunately we waited for ages until some guy called Alex who I assume was in charge eventually came over to see us. He was very aggressive and accused me of threatening him, which I did not. He looked drugged up to the eyeballs to me, so to avoid confrontation we just walked out and went somewhere else. We have since been told by locals that there are problems with staff leaving and unpaid bills for entertainment he has booked. Won't be going there again in a hurry.

Went there for New Years Eve to see a great singer we know. It was a great night! Alex, the owner, and the 2 lads, Jim and Ryan, were great hosts all night. It was hectic for them but they bent over backwards to look after us all. Alex sent over 2 bottles of prosecco for our table of 6 and even offered us a 3rd even though it was only meant to be a glass of bubbles each. Really good buffet food bought to our table, too much to eat but it was shared around the pub so not wasted. Great night, singer and atmosphere and brilliant staff. What a way to see in the New Year. Thank you Alex and the team

We booked here for a table of eight a couple of months earlier to March this year and called a week before to reconfirm the booking, apparently there was no record of the original booking but we were told that everything would be ok for Saturday evening at 7pm,when we arrived there was indeed a bare table to seat eight only to be informed by surprised staff that the chef/cook had left as they only served food up to seven o’clock We did eventually have a great meal at Dontpanic pizzas who quickly set up a couple of tables and served us really well in a cozy room which suited us fine,a big well done to them

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
