"I should have trusted my instincts when we first walked into the restaurant. My husband asked if we could have lunch, and the waiter/barman's response was, "Do you have a reservation?" When he said no, the waiter motioned towards some seats and said, "Sit over there," before walking away muttering something under his breath. Despite the unwelcoming start, we decided to look at the menu. The sandwich options sounded good, so we decided to stay. I ordered a croque monsieur, but what arrived was not at all what I expected. It was more like a cheese and ham toastie, with thin bread, low-quality ham slices, and the cheese on the outside of the sandwich. To make matters worse, the cheese was an unappetizing orange color and the sandwich lacked the traditional bechemel sauce. The fries were supposed to have skin on them, but we received a cheaper alternative with no skin at all. I have never been so disappointed in a meal before. When we were ready to leave (and pay, despite my disappointment), a staff member had to go find the waiter, who returned with a nonchalant attitude. The service was shockingly bad, as was the food. It's a shame because my husband and I were discussing the possibility of staying there for a night away, but after this experience, that won't be happening."

Dinner here on 2nd night-and it was ok. Soup not very hot ,smallest chicken breast I have ever seen, in fact small portions all round. Wish we had gone back to Wetherspoons,

I went for lunch at this restaurant and it was fantastic. The price per person was between £20-30. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top-notch, each rating a perfect 5 out of 5.

I was a bit skeptical at first when I only saw 3 reviews, but the food was delicious and the staff were friendly. I have been disappointed with the food I have tried in Scotland so far, but this was the first time I was completely satisfied.

I have just returned from Paris, and unless you like food in shells, you will starve! So, it was great to return to Scotland to get some decent, well coooked, authentic food. I couldn’t believe the quality, nor the very affordable cost. You will pay 3x more on the continent for equivalent, so Tuck-in! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

Despite having limited reviews, we took a chance on this restaurant and it paid off. We enjoyed a delicious roast beef, perfectly battered northern fish, a flavorful chicken sandwich, and a juicy angus beef burger. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The restaurant is located inside a hotel and requires climbing a few stairs, but the quality of the food made it well worth it. Overall, a great dining experience.

We went to this restaurant for a 90th birthday celebration with 6 adults and one child. The service was awful, as three of us ordered the fish and chips which were burnt and cold, and the chips were a mess. There was no cutlery on the table for desserts. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was just placed on the table unopened, and then we were asked how many glasses we needed. When we ordered a second bottle, we requested an ice bucket to chill the wine but instead were given a pint glass filled with ice cubes. Overall, it was probably the worst dining experience I have ever had.

I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. There were only 2 vegetarian options available, both of which were also vegan. My husband ordered a steak, which he found tasteless. The chips looked good but were undercooked. We decided not to have dessert. The restaurant was cold, with tables placed too close together, making it feel uncomfortable to have a conversation. Despite there being empty tables, we were seated in between two other sets of diners, which was not ideal for a romantic meal. The bar area for pre-dinner drinks was comfortable with relaxing chairs and sofas. The hotel is a beautiful old building with a rich history, and the waiting staff were pleasant. It was a s...
