"We called in here Saturday evening for a drink, with a view to have some food if we liked the menu. We hadn't been back here for a long while, even though we live locally, but had been meaning to revisit. We chose something off the bar menu and we were not disappointed. It was probably the best gammon I had had in a long time, and what I really liked was that the egg and pineapple was served together and you weren't forced to choose between the two as is most often the case. I dont like peas, but was kindly asked if I wanted an alterative, so I chose salad and it was delicious, fresh, full of colour and came with a gorgeous dressing. My husband had the burger and this was also very nice. The food was served up very nicely and just tasted absolutely delicious, the home made onion rings were lovely. It was modern pub food, traditional but updated and fresh. The drinks were also served nicely, my wine was in a lovely big glass, nicely chilled and very tasty. The landlord came over and had a word which was a nice touch and the service was excellent. Its also great to see basket meals on the menu. My only critisism is that the place lacks polish, the car park/garden at the back looks a bit shabby, it needs attention to detail, more colour, perhaps some nice planted tubs/ baskets etc. there was a broken pot and quite a bit of rubbish around, however I know they have suffered a flood and are in the middle of refurbishing. The bar was clean and nicely decorated but not sure about the overall style, seems to be a clash of different styles, however still a nice ambience. We wont be leaving it so long to revisit next time!"

Had a family meal. Pie, chicken burger, steaks. All very good, perfectly cooked and very good value indeed. The cask ale is from the Roman Way Brewery. Very well kept. I would not hesitate to dine here again. I would recommend anyone visiting or living in the area to try this pub. Very good food, beer and friendly too. View menu

I had a wonderful Sunday morning breakfast at this restaurant. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful when answering questions. It was nice to have an open fire on a cold January morning. The atmosphere was cozy and the roads leading to the restaurant were quiet and clean.

Well I have to tell everyone that the pate here is homemade and out of this world. Mario makes it himself and it's smooth tasty flavoursome and almost so good you can't do without it, please go and try some , if I could award someone a medal it would be sue who serves behind the bar waits on table and listens to all the woes of the world from patrons and still smiles . I can't understand why this place isn't inundated with customers day after day, I would recommend this cute little country friendly pub to anyonex

My friends and I had dinner at this establishment. The food took more than an hour to arrive, but when it finally did, it was delicious and freshly cooked. We would have appreciated it if they had informed us about the long wait or checked in with us while we waited. There was only one other couple dining, but there was a lively skittles match happening in the bar. I had mentioned when booking that it was my birthday, and to my surprise, a cake big enough for all of us was brought out. I ordered the pork dish, which included belly pork, pork wellington, leeks, carrots, mashed potatoes, and apple sauce - it was excellent. View menu

The restaurant is set in a charming country pub with a warm welcome from the staff. However, there was a twenty minute wait before we were approached for our orders and informed of a wait for the food, despite the sparse number of customers. The time from ordering to food arrival was over an hour, with no bread or nibbles offered during the wait. The dishes were well presented and tasty, seemingly made in-house. The desserts were particularly impressive, with a modern style and just the right amount. There were a few minor mistakes from the server, but nothing major. The lack of customers on a weekend evening meant there was little atmosphere, though the prices were fair for the quality of f...

I had seen some mentions on facebook about recommendations for the breakfast which impressed me so I went on the pubs website to enquire about evening meals having being impressed by what was on the menu we arrived at 5 pm went inside and asked if there was a table for two available and could we see the menu we were told that they don't start serving till 6pm and they were at present doing the menus so we ordered 2 drinks and sat outside. Just after 6pm my wife went in to ask for the menu she came out to say they have changed the menu and its now pizza and egg ham and chips, we were very disappointed and annoyed as someone could of mentioned to us when we arrived that the menu was being chan...

"Visited this place for the first time last night and have to say the service was really really poor from the second we walked through the door. Our table was booked for 7.45pm we didn’t get seated till 8.20pm and when the young girl seated us there was no apologies for waiting and she came across very blunt..the soup starter was lovely but the bread was a let down it was like cake and the bread with that brown sauce on ruins the bread it tasted pretty nasty,my friend liked the bread but said that the sauce ruined it. The bread to me just wasn’t very nice I make home made bread myself and this was pretty poor it tasted nothing like homemade bread. For the main I had a medium rare steak the steak was very raw inside you may aswell have just gave me a cow mooing and only the sides had been touched it was cold in the middle!! and warm on the outside (I ate it as I was so hungry I had been working all day and came straight home dressed and out again) but it had not been cooked properly to how I like it, I felt funny after eating the steak. The service was really poor one lad said to us “have you finished with that” nearly everybody spoke so lazy there was no professionalism. There was only one person who stood out as I overheard him serve another table and he was very welcoming and professional he was wearing all black and was also working on the bar he had dark blond ish hair and spoke gentle,I hope your paying him well because his manners etc is impeccable and he was very polite to us when he served us upstairs at the bar."
