"Greatly disappointed with the service, table set for two when booked for three and had to ask to have the table set properly. We were not asked if we required side orders with the main meal and hadn't realise that we should. {I would expect to be prompted/asked.}Whilst we ordered/waited for vegetables the main meal was left to go cold on the table instead of being returned to the kitchen to keep warm. Portions were tiny! delicious {if a tad cool at this point} but even by fine dining standards, ludicrously small. The desserts also lacked a satisfying quantity. This was a Christmas lunch and I would have expected a satiating amount especially for the price. OK the ingredients and chef are likely top notch but having dined in equally respected establishments, portions were still too small! Staff were accommodating and polite, environment impeccable and stylish but there was a distinct lack of attention to detail."

The Grosvenor are definitely back on form!! Service was fantastic and food was great. Good menu choice and great venue for lunch. Only negative was that the restaurant was really cold.

Had an excellent meal here on Monday night. The food was superb the wine excellent and the service brilliant, why eat anywhere else even if you aren't staying at the hotel, which is recommended. Brilliant

Always 5 star accommodation and service from the door people, reception and bar staff. Rooms are always 5 star and treated here like royalty every time we stay. Thank you again..oh and the legend that is Ian Rush joined us at the bar for a drink

Having thoroughly enjoyed eating at this beautiful restaurant in the heart of Chester on several occasions, my husband and I were disappointed with the meals we were served. The service wasn’t up to the usual standard either. For the prices we paid, we expected better.

Not visited for years since moving from Cheshire but delighted to return and find it just as excellent as before Great on-line booking window banquette requested and provided on a busy Saturday), reception food and service if we lived nearer we would be here regularly but looking forward to our next visit

We always stay here when in town. It’s an awesome place to stay and really deserves its 5 star rating. Never had the chance to try their Michelin restaurant due to the days we stay but all the others are great so one only imagines what their best in like. The hotel is central for the shops and street life. Hard to see how to improve on this one quite frankly. Go there and see for yourself.

Service ok but seemed distracted by large wedding party. Booked casual dining but only given a la Carte menu which is pricier. Only realised when both menus were brought for dessert. Disappointed as it seems like a ploy to get you to spend more. £17.50 for a glass of champagne is also overpriced. Steak ok but not as flavoursome as should be. Bernaise sauce cold. Chips not cooked fresh for our order. Paris Brest pastry nice but not made that day

The Grosvenor used to be one of our favorite spots despite the distance, but our recent visit left us with mixed feelings. We went for lunch to commemorate a special occasion, and while the food was decent, we felt it was overpriced. Our Hungarian waitress and the Maitre d' were personable, but the rest of the staff seemed disinterested. The lack of attention and slow service was disappointing. We have had better experiences at The Grosvenor in the past and hope for improvement in the future.

My wife went to this restaurant yesterday for her friend's birthday and had a terrible experience. There were not enough seats at the table for the group, and they had to wait 40 minutes for their drinks to arrive. To make matters worse, the staff insisted on taking everyone's card to process payment, which is not a good practice. Unfortunately, some of the group later discovered additional charges on their accounts after the staff took their cards. Overall, it was an awful experience for them.

"I booked a table for 2 really last minute on a busy December night, piccolio’s manger cosimo took the booking, he was so friendly and helpful that we really needed after a hard work in the cold winter weather! we went in and the restaurants that were breathtaking have woken us! the decor is stylish and above all it was so warm and cozy what we needed, we were greeted with smiles all around by every worker and was immediately taken on our table, without waiting time what ever! we were so swollen! Shortly after we sat, we tamara welcomed them beautiful, well presented and extremely polite. we thought up the menu, while tamara served us the most delicious Rosè Prosecco and took our orders. it was a hard choice, as we wanted to order one of all, the menu choices sound exquisite! so much choice and catering for all food requirements. my own and my friend decided to go for the spaghetti frutti di mare, which was absolutely inconceivable! muddle, mush and calamari topped with a huge garlic king prawn! it didn't take long until there were two empty teller and full bell! we stayed and talked together about the life and there was no hurry to move us from table to tamara has checked us we were so glad to have chosen piccolino chester for our girly dinner date and just wanted to say a massive thank you to cosimo, tamara and the piccolino team. I can't wait to come back to another fantastic evening."
