"We happened upon this delightful restaurant as it's located next to our favourite paint shop in Toulon. We were seated at one of the 4 tables located at the front of the restaurant. Cars can only access the rue Notre Dame by permission. Otherwise, there is no through traffic, which makes dining outside at this restaurant on a sunny day highly enjoyable. They have lunch menus for under €15 but we decided to order à la carte. We started off by sharing a plate of 4 large accras de morue (cod fritters), which was served with a very spicy sauce on the side. The accras were delicious. We, then, moved onto main courses of colombo de poulet (mild curry chicken) and maffé de boeuf (stewed beef with carrots in a peanut sauce). Both were served on a bed of white rice and garnished with a piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato and topped with salad dressing. We didn't eat the lettuce because it looked a bit brown and wilted. Both mains were flavourful and less than €11 each. Portions are generous.Lunch for 2 with a large bottle of Badoit (sparkling water) came to €32.50 (tax and tip included). The two women who run the restaurant are friendly and very accommodating. They have tiépboudienne, a traditional Senegalese dish made with fish, on Saturdays only or on special order for groups of 20 or more."

The food however was delicious. My partner and I struggled to get to grips with the menu (i have a basic knowledge of French but little more) however our choice of Gambas a la Provence (a regional prawn dish) and Assiette Texane (Handmade burger with egg and chips) were exquisite.Despite the language barrier, we managed to get on very well with the two jolly hostesses.
