"There is a lot of good and bad things to say about Southwater country park and their cafe. The park its self its very beautiful and is a nice walk there is a few things that need updating but on a whole its very pleasant, the children's play area gets a bit over Crowded but that is the case in every park there is beautiful swans on the lake and I think it would be a very relaxing place to visit in the summer Went to the cafe for a coffee and a bite and ot was my first and last visit. It was very busy inside no social distancing and only one sanitizer station. They had very loud music playing that made it very difficult to hear the lady taking our order There was 4 staff in there one seemed to be in a tiz not really knowing what she should be doing.Anther one with a mass of messy blond hair lingering in the background. The girl making coffee was very calm and the coffee she made us was ok, I've had better but I've had worse. The lady on the till seemed to lake basic customer service skills and was very abrupt and shouted at us as she thought we was leaving at the entrance but I was grabbing my child who had attempted to run off.We had two lattes a egg mayo baguette sausage baguette and a kids lunch box this all came to £20.30The coffee was passable seemed to have no taste the kids lunch box was very reasonable but the ham sandwich was dry the sausage baguette was soggy and to top our bad experience off the egg mayo baguette had a long blonde hair in it.Because of how busy they was we decided not to make a scene and go somewhere else If I was to visit here again I will bring a pick nick next time"

Use this delightful cafe regularly, once a week, with grandchildren. Staff are amazingly cheerful and helpful and we always enjoy the coffees and rocky road.

We went to the Cafe for a brunch type meal and were not disappointed. Their breakfast is excellent and great value all freshly cooked to order. Happy staff, flexible menu, very clean. Definitely be returning.. A

Been a couple of times this year. Last time last weekend. We’ve had coffees and ice cream. Staff were friendly. A little expensive but no more than you would expect at a park cafe type place. Toilets outside were clean View menu

I visited the cafe on Tuesday 6th November, I was pleasantly suprised at the changes inside the cafe with the new fresh looking table clothes, it has brightened the whole cafe up. I had a lovely panini with my mother, will definitely be returning! Both of the lady’s were extremely helpful when asking about details for the children’s area and car park charges for future references.

Although the food was delicious, it was disappointing that the customer service was terrible. Three girls were just standing and staring at me while I tried to figure out what I wanted without a menu. I asked for a panini that was advertised on the blackboard outside, but they no longer offered them. The restaurant needs to improve their signage and train their staff better. The place was not very clean or tidy. When I asked if dogs were allowed, I was shut down before I could even finish my sentence. Overall, they need to improve their staff training and offer a refund.

This little cafe is a gem! With a great view of the lake and outside seating, essential these days! I visit regularly with my husband for a walk round the lake followed by a coffee and homemade cake or a hot sausage roll, lots of good things on the menu.... and ice creams for children of all ages! Open all year its a must for a visit, there are interesting activities to watch on the lake kayaking, model yachts etc. while you enjoy the sun on the terrace of the cafe with a bite to eat. There is a play area in the park for the youngsters too and a pushchair accessible path. It's one of our favourite spots for a stroll, and a place to meet up with friends. View menu

Went here on Monday I understand that it was busy as it was bank holiday Monday but hygen still should be there main concern When I was in the que I noticed there was a girl sweeping the floor who then went to the oven to get good out safe added salad to the dish that she picked up with her hands I would like to point out at no point did she put on gloves or wash her hands The girl on the till was handling money and cutting cake she also never wore gloves or washed her hands to my disgust she even touched the cake she was serving Floors was disgusting and so was the tables no one had even bothered to clear them you had to do it your self even the cutlery was dirty They will definitely not be...

There were no facilities for hand sanitation or sanitation of the outside seating area and since there were 2 staff on no one came to check the hygiene of the outside area. On display were a very limited selection and the card display was there for tuna sandwich but was told there were none. The cappuccino coffee was only half full mostly froth and there was a tea bag in the cup at the bottom. They replaced the coffee and a complementary bag of shortcake but the cup again was only half full. The 3 orange juices were never served and after going back to enquire if the baguettes were ready we ate and left. The sandwiches were stale and baguettes were dry no butter. The staff were clearly under...

"My mother and I had been following the Masterchef Pro comp ' last year and were really keen to sample some of the winner, Tom Hamblet 's, food. We travelled a 4 hour round trip for the experience. We don 't eat at fine dining restaurants often but we are foodies. Firstly, the setting of the restaurant is very lavish and comfortable with warm low lighting. That said, the dinner experience was a little too dark for my mother so that 's something to think about if you struggle with eyesight and low lighting. The service was friendly, attentive and speedy/efficient. The food: I 'll start with the dessert because that was a real pleasure for us. We both loved the flavours of Tom 's end of series winning dessert so the meal ended on a high (we ordered the Olive Oil sponge with lemon curd). I recommend not ruining your palette with the overly sweet petit four that are placed in front of you following dessert unfortunately ours were more sugar flavoured than any other identifiable flavour. Our starters and mains were very VERY underwhelming. They arrived looking beautiful, neat and tidy but failed to deliver on taste. I had wanted the celeriac themed starter but the waiting staff told me the vegan/veggie starters and mains were created by their head chef and not Tom. That was disappointing as his 3 month residency was the reason we 'd visited the restaurant. We ended up both having the lobster starters after the waiting staff recommended it highly as either a starter or an additional dish to share. The claw meat was minimal and tough and the foam mousse took centre stage on the plate. Whilst the plate had lots of textures to it, we felt it was unbalanced and generally with no 'wow ' to it. We enjoyed the coffee and rye bread with butter and pollen/fennel that came prior to this thought. I ordered the Guinea Fowl as a main after the waiter described it as a gamey, dark and tender meat. I feel like a better description to someone that hasn 't had guinea fowl before would be 'it 's like a chicken breast with a different flavour '. This is what arrived in front of me and I actually found it was quite dry and not dark at all! I would never have ordered anything that resembled chicken breast anyway so I felt ill informed about my choice. I also thought the girolles were overwhelmingly tart. I didn 't enjoy my main. Mum 's Hogget was nice but average for her too. Last comment I 've never in my life paid £6.50 for less than 1.5ltrs mineral water beware! I don 't care how much money you have it 's water!!!"

"Service: 11/10 Starter: Calamari Duck Parfait - 10/10 Main Course 1: 50-Day Aged Fillet Mignon with Bordelaise Sauce (cooked *Blue*) - 100/10 Main Course 2: Fish and Chips - 9/10 Dessert: Hot Brownie - Over 9000! I want to extend my thanks to the front-of-house team for their warm welcome. Although we arrived a bit late, they were incredibly accommodating. Special thanks to Irvana (I hope I spelled that correctly) for providing excellent service! My steak experience took me on a nostalgic journey—like Anton Ego savoring his ratatouille in Gusto’s restaurant. It reminded me of a family meal in Holland during my childhood, where I had my first real steak. This may have even surpassed that memory! I was initially hesitant about dining at Miller and Carter since it's a chain restaurant, but if you're feeling the same way, let me assure you: don't be. While it may not be the cheapest option, it definitely deserves a smart-casual dress code that anyone who understands proper dining etiquette should respect. Curious, I browsed through other reviews, and I found it hard to believe anyone could leave a 1-star review without sounding like a “Karen.” It’s important to take reviews with a grain of salt—this is truly a fantastic restaurant! In summary, if you're a fan of steak, this place will take great care of you and provide excellent recommendations for how to enjoy your meal just the way you like it. Perfect!"
