"Perhaps the best indicator of the state of this place is a comparison with the excellent Preston, just yards down the road. We wanted an early pint and Preston was full unsurprisingly because it’s warm, welcoming and clean with lovely staff and great...beer. Having not been into the Stew and Oyster for a while, we thought we’d give it a try. It was maybe a quarter full. It was unwelcoming, with dirty glasses littering empty tables. All the surfaces felt sticky and unwashed in a while and the whole place just felt dirty. The beer selection is great if you like mass produced keg beer. It seems the artisan beer revolution has passed the S+O by. There were a couple of hand pumped ales but no indicator of what they were, unlike the informative chalk board in Preston. The acoustics are horrible, lots of cavernous empty space which allowed the screaming child downstairs to be heard in great detail through the whole pub as the sound bounced off the empty, unadorned walls. This place could be good if only somebody would put a bit of effort into decor, cleaning and beer selection. They should take a leaf out of Preston’s book and ask themselves why one place is packed and popular and the other isn’t."

Lovely food and lovely staff. I would suggest that the portion sizes could be increased but that aside, it was superb!

Having come to the quiz in a timely fashion last night, I'd not had the chance to eat anything before the evening's antics.

The bartender was very friendly this afternoon, the bar had a welcoming atmosphere, and they had a great selection of wines. 10/10 would recommend.

The restaurant always offers excellent draft beer (although it can be pricy). The service is friendly. However, the food menu is a bit limited, and some items need to be purchased separately, which can be disappointing.

Had a couple of pints here the other night with my mate. It has a small, but pleasant enough outdoor seating area. Camden Pale was a pint. Reasonable service, with staff bringing the drinks out, and wearing masks. Card only, which is annoying. Interior...is fairly spacious. Toilets are upstairs. The Gents' toilet was out of order. Broken toilet seat in the Ladies'. Vegan options on the menu.

first of all, the young man behind the bar, because another employee did not show up, he was alone. he put us on our request up and offered table service for our group of 6. the service was excellent for a lonely worker not only served he drinks, take the food order he also cooked. eating was tasty, although the portions seemed a little small. the hornbrot was excellent. all in all it was a pleasant experience and the management should note the service of this employee

"My son expressed his desire for a restaurant that wasn't too fancy or too casual. It's always a challenge to gather grown-up sons for celebrations when they are spread out, especially when you're unfamiliar with the restaurants in Leeds. After scrolling for hours and exchanging options, we finally settled on Gallery 41, which happened to have a 20% off deal on all food for certain days in November - perfect for N's birthday. After a long journey and a chilly afternoon at Kirkstall Abbey, we were ready to eat, and boy, did we eat well. The olives were a hit with my sons and husband, while the garlic bread was described as some of the best they'd ever had. The Skin Fries were a crowd favorite, so much so that we almost fought over the last ones. The main dishes were equally impressive, with the meat eaters raving about the Spiced Pepperoni and the Vegetarian option wowing my husband. I couldn't resist the Florentina pizza, a personal favorite of mine. Dessert was a hit as well, with everyone indulging in their sweet tooth. The atmosphere at Gallery 41 was perfect for our family gathering - quiet, cozy, and conducive to good conversation. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. I look forward to returning with the rest of my family and indulging in more of Gallery 41's delicious offerings. In the end, it's the simple things like family, good food, and quality time together that truly matter. Thank you, Gallery 41, for a wonderful dining experience."
