We made an unplanned stop on our way home and were pleasantly surprised by how friendly the staff were; they managed to accommodate us. The service was good, although we ordered extra leeks and only realized later that we hadn't received them. The food was average, but overall it was a nice experience. Price per person: £10–20. Popped in unplanned for an early evening drink. The food smelt so good we stayed for an excellent burger and chips. The menu is simple and certainly not pretentious but what we were served was beautifully cooked. There was also a lovely atmosphere in and outside the pub which is clearly dog friendly. Recommended. The food was excellent; we both opted for burgers—my partner had a gluten-free option without the bun—and we shared the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was great to see a gluten-free version available, so my partner could enjoy that too. The portion sizes were generous, and the homemade burger was thick and juicy. The toffee pudding was equally delicious. Next time, we plan to try one of the specials listed on the board. The prices are also reasonable for the area; we’ve been to other places that charge a fortune for meals! This place is amazing! We have been visiting the Lake District for a few years and came across the Sun Inn last year. I can only describe it as a good 'old fashioned ' pub but it does also have a superb food menu. My Wife and I had the lasagne (which we had last year as wel) and for dessert the creme brulee. Both were hust heavenly! The atmosphere was lovely and the lady that greeted us and hosted us whilst we were there was fab! Would i go back? Without hesitation given that it was just a really lovely place. I felt it was fairly priced and also value for your money. Have paid more and been given less in some places. Highly recommended. The inn is situated in a picturesque location, providing lovely views of the surrounding fields while you dine. It’s also dog-friendly, complete with a menu catering to dogs of all sizes for just £3.00; they even offer Sunday roast dinners for your furry friends. Parking is conveniently located right outside the inn, with a larger parking lot available on the side depending on your approach. Just a tip: keep an eye out for the parking sign as it can be easy to miss. Although the inn is small and cozy, it has ample space inside.
