"Visited Sweet Pea’s Tea Room on a Saturday afternoon having heard many positive words from family and friends. It’s worth a visit, it’s vibrant and dare I say pretty. Service was prompt and obliging. My wife and I were possibly a little unlucky on our visit. When there, the tearoom, to a person, was impeded by a lady’s telephone which rang extra loud and uninterrupted. Unbothered that she was disturbing the vibe in the tearoom, she gassed on as if her call was everyone else’s problem. When it rang again, she answered, and proceeded with a tedious Cybil Fawlty rendition. Anyway, this wasn’t the fault of the management (although I’d have banned her for life), they were liable for the standard of sausages however. I couldn’t work out if the sausages were Quorn or made of paper. Noise irritants and meat aside, the rest of the tearoom is one of Harborough’s best places to visit, vintage crockery and refined receptacles, this certainly isn’t Costa or a greasy spoon. Oh and the cakes are delicious."

This really was like stepping back in time. Fifties ambience . Traditional food beautifully served by a delightful group of ladies dressed in clothes of the period . Thecheese scones were to die for. Look forward to returning on my next visit to Market Harborough.

The Sweet Pea is utterly charming. There is very much a 40s vibe and its done extremely well. Absolutely delicious food, friendly service and the only place I have ever been to that serves a LARGE Flat White! For that along I would award 5 stars. Very well worth a visit View menu

We have visited this tearoom almost every week since it opened and it never changes they all try so hard to please their visitors and always go out of their way to be helpful. The food and drinks are wonderful and this tearoom is well worth a visit. We think it's the best in Harborough!

Stumbled on this rather quaint and cosy cafe today. Stepping inside was like stepping back to an innocent period in time where one could sit calmly and enjoy a cuppa and cake. I didn’t have cake though. It was lunch time and I needed a small bite of something savoury. I opted for a bacon, Brie chilli panini. It came with a side salad, home made coleslaw and some crisps. It looked lovingly prepared and tasted amazing. The panini hadn’t been squashed to a thin hard crisp , the Brie was thick and melting, the bacon was a nice cut and thick slice and the chilli jam topped this delicious trio off. I loved everything about this small but beautiful cafe and will come back for cake on another visit.

"I visited my daughter and son-in-law last week and on my request they had booked a table for us on black horse on Saturday night at 1 o'clock. we arrived shortly before the pm and all four of us stood in the bar where two were served. it wasn't busy. no one told us anything until the bar was clear and then one of the ladies looked at me and I said we booked a table in my name of my daughter and she saw the bookings and said oh yes, we had table assigned and pointed into another room. there was no greeting no smiling, so we met our way to the table and sat there. there were no menus on the table, so I stood up to find some and someone only made their way from the other room in the direction of our table. we ordered drinks that were in themselves a task, as they had no free or dietary limmonade, so I had to go to the end for a gin with slimline tonic. then we ordered four different meal times. I ordered a vegetarian curry in naanbrot and when it finally came, I was so disappointed because the naanbrot was burned and the curry was cold on the outside, so I asked them to take it back. the waitress asked if I wanted to order something else and I went back. my daughter then shared some of her meals with me, who were chicken pupils. they were coated in a teig that was extremely fat. the menu does not seem to come out of any meal with fresh vegetables, everything seemed to come with chips and draughts, even the Steak-Mahl came only with chips and draughts, no mushrooms, tomatoes, wobble rings or something. I wasn't impressed. for a pub that wants good reviews, I think they have lost the property. the customer service is everything and fresh vegetables is essential. I'm sorry to be the bearer worse, but we won't come back."
